It was Monday. Jiang Xia called the hospital and asked for Ruan Tang.
During her lunch break, Ruan Tang quickly came over from the office and called Jiang Xia back.
"Your Second Brother and I discussed it over New Year's Day. We won't be returning to Capital City. We'll go after winter break."
It had mainly been her decision, and Zhou Chengsen followed her lead in everything.
Now he came into the city to see her every week. If she had to work on Saturday or Sunday, he would bring fresh seafood over and cook her a meal. If she had the day off, he would pick her up and take her back to the village, where he would take her out fishing or tide catching.
Sometimes, if she had finished a night shift and had the next day off, she would also take a bus to see him. She did nothing in particular—she simply kept him company over lunch.
If he had a dinner engagement that evening, she would have lunch with him and then take a bus back to the city herself.
If he had no social engagements after work, she would wait until he got off, and then he would take her back to the city.
While waiting for him, she would stroll around town or sit in the green flower beds at his workplace and read. Time passed quickly that way too.
Zhou Chengsen asked her to sit in his office, but she refused, afraid it would affect him poorly.
They both had jobs and lived in different places, so they could only meet once or twice a week. Their days were plain and uneventful, but Ruan Tang felt completely at ease.
