"Principal."
Li Fei and Shi Caiming exchanged a glance and said calmly:
"Master failed to break through back then. There may have been all sorts of reasons, but in the final analysis, it was because he wasn't strong enough."
Shi Caiming was taken aback.
Li Fei continued, "There are ten thousand kinds of failure in this world, but the reasons for failure can actually all be summed up in one: not being strong enough."
Only the weak kept finding excuses for themselves. To the strong, there was always only one reason for failure!
Shi Caiming fell silent for a moment before saying:
"But even Martial Sages standing at the pinnacle of the Martial Dao, or the Son of Heaven wielding the highest authority in the world, couldn't accomplish what your master wanted to accomplish."
The reason he had honored his agreement with those powerful figures and refrained from acting at all during this incident was, of course, not merely because he kept his word.
Unless one had nothing and no one they cared about, the further one climbed, the more deeply one could feel all the various forms of unfreedom in this world.
It wasn't that the greater one's ability, the greater one's responsibility. Rather, the greater one's ability, the higher the level of things one became entangled in, and the more helpless one became in many matters.
Shi Caiming had felt this very deeply and had witnessed far too many tragedies. That was why he had urged Li Fei not to go to extremes.
"That only proves they weren't strong enough either."
Li Fei said this.
Shi Caiming was so exasperated that he laughed.
At the same time, however, he heard the deep self-reproach in Li Fei's words.
Wasn't Li Fei also saying that he himself wasn't strong enough?
