Tang Yuan narrowed his eyes, or at least he thought he did, trying to see more clearly.
He wasn't sure if his current body even had eyelids... He moved his hands, but in reality, two tentacles at the top of his body were moving.
His body was soft and light. Communication didn't require much language. This feeling was completely different from being human. In short, it was like turning into a snail; the experience was something he had to feel for himself.
There were many Great Race Is here, but a considerable portion were creatures from other races that had been swapped out.
To reiterate, the Great Race Is and the Is Race were different.
The Great Race was a race that had unlocked the mystery of time. Their spirits were nearly eternal and could prevent the race from going extinct by continuously occupying the bodies of other races. In the distant past, they had occupied the bodies of the Is Race and became the Great Race Is.
The Is Race, on the other hand, was a native race that lived on ancient Earth. They weren't inherently magical.
Tang Yuan scanned his surroundings with his ECHO Eye, looking for the Is that were clearly different from the Great Race Is.
Lawrence was easy to find. These replaced races came from all over the universe, representing all sorts of civilizations. They were confined here to write about their civilizations in their own languages. All he needed to do was find someone who used the Earth language.
Lawrence should use English.
[Target Found: Lawrence.]
[Lawrence's mental state is not good, experiencing extreme tension and panic.]
[Lawrence's Sanity Value is decreasing.]
[Option 1: Greet him first to stabilize Lawrence's mood, but your identity will be suspected by the Great Race Is around you.]
[Option 2: Take no action. Find a way to get the Great Race Is around you to leave.]
After analysis, the ECHO Eye provided two action guidelines. Tang Yuan decided to play it safe and first get rid of the Is Race member beside him.
"I'm hungry. Could you please get me some food?"
"Alright. You keep an eye on them."
There was virtually no internal strife within the Is Race, so this Is didn't suspect anything and readily agreed to help Tang Yuan find food.
As soon as the Is disappeared from the data room, Tang Yuan quickly moved to Lawrence's side.
Lawrence was startled, and the tentacles on his body trembled slightly.
Tang Yuan picked up a pen and paper and began to write.
"Lawrence?"
When Lawrence saw the familiar English on the paper, he was so shocked that the pen fell from his tentacle. Then, he began to tremble violently—he was excited.
"Yes, it's me!"
"Calm down, I'm here to save you," Tang Yuan continued to write.
"Thank you. But we need to hurry, the Flying Hydra is about to break through the blockade." Lawrence, upon learning that someone had actually come to help, calmed himself down quickly amidst his disbelief.
Tang Yuan exchanged a few words with Lawrence and learned about his situation.
He had indeed wanted to use this opportunity to learn the secret of the Great Race's ability to overcome time, hoping humanity could also achieve immortality. However, he hadn't expected his timing to be so off.
The Is Race wouldn't be able to contain the Flying Hydra underground for much longer. They had already considered collectively transferring to other races long ago. Most of the Great Race had already transferred into their chosen next bodies, with a small portion remaining to handle the aftermath.
These remaining Is were mainly waiting for those who had gone out for "spiritual exchange" to return.
If they didn't return before the Flying Hydra completely broke through the blockade, they wouldn't wait any longer. All of the Is Race would have to transfer.
Some members of the Great Race found the experience of going out to learn very interesting and didn't want to transfer so quickly. They wanted to spend more time learning in the human world before directly transferring to their prepared next bodies.
This group of Is had planned very well; they could live in the human era.
However, the humans they had replaced were abandoned in the bodies of the Is Race, awaiting the retribution of the Flying Hydra.
Lawrence was one of these unfortunate humans.
He wanted to leave but had no way to do so. His grandfather had stayed here for five years, even learning the Is Race's communication methods. But he couldn't. He had only been here for half a month and hadn't adapted to anything, let alone found a way to escape.
"To get out, you need to find the machine the Is Race uses for spiritual exchange. I'll find a way."
Tang Yuan comforted Lawrence. Just then, the Is member who had gone to find food returned.
"Here."
He handed Tang Yuan a large bag with something resembling a straw attached.
[Special Liquid: Food of the Is Race.]
[Note: Seems to be sweet, could be added to the ingredient encyclopedia.]
Tang Yuan took a big sip. It tasted like water, but it was indeed sweet.
[Stamina +10.]
Beneath the sweetness was a fishy smell.
In Tang Yuan's past experience, he had never tasted such a liquid. Of course, he didn't want to know what it was.
But the fact that it tasted sweet made it good food.
[Is Liquid: Transparent liquid, exhibits a golden glow in sunlight, refreshing taste, similar to water, sweet flavor, can apparently be used as a sweetener.]
[Note: Feeding "living people" is prohibited.]
["Is Liquid" has been added to the "Ingredient Compendium".]
It seems besides the slime from the sweet glutinous rice balls, I've found a second seasoning?
Tang Yuan took another sip.
[Stamina +10.]
Not bad.
Tang Yuan reluctantly took another drink, then stored the liquid in his backpack.
"I'm still not full, is there any more?"
"How did your appetite get so big?" the Is beside him asked in surprise.
"I'm consuming it pretty quickly, is there any more?"
"There are some stored in that room."
Tang Yuan followed the direction indicated and entered a small room.
Inside the room was a row of devices resembling refrigerators. He opened one excitedly and gathered all the special liquids inside into his backpack. He counted about twenty packs.
He didn't put them in the "refrigerator" activated by the ECHO Eye because he still wanted to use the refrigerator to store larger, harder-to-carry items.
Tang Yuan returned to the central data room. Now, the only remaining issue was how to get back.
He was unfamiliar with the terrain here and would need some time to adapt.
[Detection in progress: These Is have no suspicion towards you. You can ask directly.]
[The taste of this liquid is highly stimulating to living beings. Because you drank it without any issues, the Is have completely dropped their guard against you.]
Well... so it was thanks to the fact that I'm dead.
"Excuse me..."
Just as Tang Yuan was about to ask, he was interrupted by a massive earthquake.
The ground shook violently, making Tang Yuan stagger. Fortunately, the suction cups on his feet held firm to the ground, preventing him from being thrown off.
"This is bad! The Flying Hydra broke through our defenses this quickly?!" the Is said with a grave expression.
Tang Yuan spread his tentacles. He had no idea how he could tell the cone-shaped creature looked grave.
"Quick, evacuate!" After saying that, the Is hurried away, with Tang Yuan following closely behind.
If I follow him, I should be able to find the machine for exchanging consciousness!
