He consoled himself. Maybe when he reached some crucial plot point in the future, his cheat ability would pop up again.
It wasn't as if Fan Fiction where the cheat only arrived at the very end didn't exist.
After relieving himself of the water he had deliberately drunk before bed, the expectation in his heart faded a little, and drowsiness soon came over him again.
He dreamed of many things, but after waking up, he could no longer remember them clearly. His first night in this world had been far from restful.
His top priority was to master the skills needed to deal with the school teachers within three days.
Second, Sasuke knew quite a few movement techniques, combat skills, and fighting techniques. Only by reviewing them and reaching the same level of proficiency could he do justice to this identity.
Near the Konoha Barrier, west of the Uchiha Clan Grounds, there was an artificial lake two or three hundred meters across amid the surrounding mountains and forests. Its source was one of the three rivers flowing through Konoha, making it one of the cleanest open water sources within the village.
It had originally been a place for the Konoha Military Police Force and the Uchiha clansmen to train. Now, it belonged to him alone. Of course, he couldn't stop others from coming, nor was there any way to stop them.
A group of people who played with fire needed to live somewhere with plenty of water. That was perfectly reasonable.
Although the Fire Style techniques in his hands were only beginner-level, they were still ninjutsu involving a measure of Chakra Nature Transformation. Considering the difficulty, Sasuke had not rushed to practice them yesterday. By the time he had gone through the basic skills a few times and become somewhat proficient, he had already run out of Chakra.
This would be his first ninjutsu of the day. He planned to try practicing it.
Not long before Fugaku Uchiha died, he had remarked that Sasuke's current amount of Chakra was only enough to use this two or three times a day.
He formed Hand Seals, gathering Chakra at two acupoints in his mouth.
He exhaled, spraying the Chakra from those two acupoints straight ahead.
The compressed, condensed Chakra burst forth, and the instant it lost its restraints, it transformed into a ball of flame.
The first time, the Chakra had not been compressed enough. After two more tries, he finally succeeded.
Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique
As he stared at the massive fireball over four or five meters across before him, ripples surged across the lake's surface, while the roar of explosively burning Chakra tearing through the air rang in his ears.
Though he had been mentally prepared, Sasuke still found himself dazed.
Compared to the Three Body Technique, the sheer spectacle was unbelievably shocking.
This was fucking ninjutsu. Magic probably looked about the same.
I am a magical boy!
If ninjutsu did not rely on Hand Seals and used a wand instead, it really would be pretty much the same as magic.
Chakra was produced by mixing Mental Strength and physical energy, which also seemed pretty similar to magical power.
Wait. In Harry Potter, students taught at Africa's Uagadou School of Magic could use gestures instead of wands.
Forget the word "ninja"—this was basically a goddamn magical world.
Hiss!
His mouth was burned.
After spacing out, his Chakra control had become a little unstable, and the flames had recoiled and brushed his mouth.
It was like getting a fishbone stuck in his throat. For at least a day, he would feel disgusted by fish.
On top of that, he had used up more than half his Chakra. If he kept practicing fire-breathing, he would probably have to go back to bed for another nap.
Not bad. An Uchiha who could breathe fire was an Uchiha worthy of the name~
A large sheet made by piecing together more than a dozen pages lay before him, roughly outlining the layout of the Uchiha Clan Grounds. The details had yet to be filled in.
Though the Uchiha were wealthy, the current Technological Level was not advanced enough for computers. Even missions had to be issued through handwritten notices, so Sasuke could only record things on paper as well.
During the time he spent recovering after training, he would search house by house and see whether there was anything that could prove their identities. Since Konoha would not provide information about his clansmen, he would look himself. At least they would not have died without even leaving their names behind.
If possible, he could even find time to erect cenotaphs for them. What was his identity now?
The Uchiha's sole legitimate heir!
To put it more nicely, he was the head of the Uchiha clan! Everything he did was perfectly reasonable.
As for clearing out the remaining valuables inside the Houses, wasn't that just convenient?
Even with the Sharingan, and even though the feedback from his progress was obvious, the joy of training could never compare to shopping for free.
He first went through the clan grounds one place at a time. People had lived not only in the main residential area; there were also five farming households in more remote areas, responsible for cultivating some of the clan's fields. It was naturally not enough to feed an entire clan, but with workable flat land inside the village's protected area, it certainly could not be left unused.
These were Ordinary People with no talent for ninjutsu, but the uncleaned bloodstains on the ground nearby made it clear that there were no survivors.
Quite a few livestock and poultry had died or been injured.
Some of the chickens, ducks, and geese locked in cages had survived by gnawing on the corpses of their own kind. The pigs in the mud pens had grown thin from hunger, though three days was not enough to kill them. Two penned-up cows could no longer stand; hunger aside, they were severely dehydrated. One that had not been tied up was running wild through the fields, and it looked... honestly, pretty carefree.
He did not know how Sasuke in the original story had handled these reserves of food, but he could not bear to watch.
They were alive. Never mind how much they were worth—just the fact that they would not rot or spoil as long as they stayed alive was enough for him to take care of them.
Fine, it was a little beyond his capabilities. Though there were not many at each household, and some had already died, once gathered together, even an Ordinary Person would spend half the day just preparing their feed. He still had to train, too.
He would just keep them alive for now. Once he could get by smoothly at school in a few days and had some free time, he would see if he could fence off several plots of land and raise them free-range.
Throughout the entire clan grounds, only Sasuke's House still had its power on. Every time he opened a refrigerator, it was a test of willpower.
Compared to the obviously more imposing ninja Houses, the homes of Ordinary People who lived upstairs and ran businesses downstairs, as well as apartment buildings shared by several families, actually yielded more.
Today, he had only searched a little over twenty households, yet he had already gained more than a hundred thousand ryo. There was just too much loose change, and it jingled everywhere.
There were also two sets of Konoha School textbooks, some Blade Tools...
At dinnertime, someone unexpectedly came to visit again.
"Sasuke, are you home?"
The voice was quite ordinary, but this person had not presumptuously pushed the door open. He was far more polite than the lawless Hiruzen Sarutobi. Who could it be?
The Knocking Sound rang out for a second time.
He opened the door. A standard ninja flak jacket, a scar across the bridge of his nose, young enough to look like a college student, with no real air of authority... Iruka, the homeroom teacher. No, he had not become a homeroom teacher yet; he was only an ordinary teacher.
Sasuke was somewhat puzzled about why he had come.
"Hello, Iruka. What can I do for you?"
Iruka was not even twenty yet, was he? At such a young age, he already wore a kindly expression. Civil service really was suitable for retirement.
"Hokage-sama said you had been discharged from the hospital. Are you feeling better? I brought you the study notes from the past few days."
Bringing me homework? Do you have a grudge against me or something?
On the night of the Nine-Tails Attack, the Nine-Tails was controlled by the Uchiha. So you already know about that, and you came all this way just to make me sick, huh?
Although he knew this was Iruka's kind concern, perhaps even a visit to check on him, if this man also had a habit of delivering homework and overtime documents, then Sasuke really could not give him a pleasant face.
"I'm feeling better. Thank you for your concern, Iruka."
"Will you be able to attend class normally next week?"
Sasuke nodded and gave a quiet "Mm."
Seeing that Sasuke did not say much, Iruka scratched his head, feeling a little awkward. He thought he understood—Sasuke was probably still immersed in the grief of losing his family.
