After these Barbarian soldiers came ashore, they advanced on tiptoe under the command of their Commander of Ten Thousand. To reduce the noise of their movement, they all went barefoot. Fortunately, the muddy riverbank was soft and mostly free of stones.
They carefully approached the wall. Once they were close enough, they could see the defending soldiers patrolling and standing guard behind it through the gaps in the wall.
After observing for a while, the Commander of Ten Thousand chose a section of wall that the defenders had just finished patrolling. He then directly ordered the soldiers to form human ladders and begin scaling the wall.
They did not have much time. Based on his observations, he estimated that patrol troops would return to this section of the wall in three minutes.
They might have only those three minutes to get over the wall, perhaps even less. Within that time, they had to get as many men as possible into the camp.
The Barbarian soldiers clasped hands and climbed atop one another, curved blades clenched between their teeth as they scaled and crossed the wall. Every movement was cautious.
Even the sounds of them landing after crossing the wall were faint. However, the repeated thuds of people dropping down still caught the attention of a nearby squad of passing defenders.
Hearing a series of sudden "thud, thud, thud" sounds from this direction, the soldiers curiously came over.
The Barbarian soldiers who had long been lying in wait nearby also noticed the approaching patrol squad. They immediately signaled their comrades climbing over the wall, and the crossing operation quickly stopped.
However, more than thirty Barbarian soldiers had already successfully crossed the wall and entered the camp. They hid beside several tents near the wall, using the shadows cast by the moon
