Baron Brown looked with great satisfaction at the fortified position before them. The Bed Crossbows had been arranged in orderly rows atop the earthen slope.
Victor had just finished circling the mound beneath the arrow tower. "Yes. Setting up the Bed Crossbows here will seal off the eastern and western approaches. We only have six Bed Crossbows, three Repeating Crossbows, and four small catapults.
If we had more Repeating Crossbows, no matter how many troops the enemy sent, they wouldn't be able to get anywhere near this place."
Baron Brown said somewhat awkwardly, "There weren't any more. On the way here, one of the Draft Horses stepped into a horse trap, overturning a wagon and damaging two Bed Crossbows.
When we inspected them later, we found that the damaged parts were critical structural components. The spare parts we brought were too limited to repair them, so we could only dismantle them for parts for the other crossbows."
Victor rubbed his forehead with his middle and index fingers. "The Repeating Crossbows are fine, right?"
"The Repeating Crossbows are fine. They were all disassembled at the time, so they weren't damaged."
"That's good. When we get back, the Bed Crossbows need to be redesigned as modular equipment. It would be best to transport them in separate pieces as well.
Michael, make a note of that and report it to the Arms Factory when we return."
"Yes!"
Just then, several Guard Battalion cavalrymen galloped back from different directions and reported the enemy movements they had discovered to Victor.
After hearing their reports, Victor gathered everyone and located the enemy forces advancing toward them on the map.
Yellen looked at the map and hesitated. "There are five enemy forces in total?"
