Thus, Zeus tricked Metis into turning into a fly, then swallowed her in one gulp.
Metis continued carrying the child inside Zeus's belly, and forged armor and divine artifacts for her soon-to-be-born child.
Later, Zeus's head ached as if it were splitting apart. Mefitos split open Zeus's skull, and Athena, Goddess of War and Wisdom, sprang out of Zeus's head all fresh and dewy.
