Ch. 81Intelligence

Konoha’s force entered the war-torn Land of Rain and reached the border of the Land of Wind, where Tsunade prepared to face Sunagakure’s defenses. After learning that Chiyo led the enemy forces and that the Third Kazekage and the Jinchuriki remained unaccounted for, the commanders began planning their attack.

  • Tsunade led Konoha’s main force into the undefended Land of Rain, where they witnessed civil war and suffering among the civilians.
  • Minato asked whether the Land of Rain could be saved, and Kawafune told him he had already made plans.
  • At the Land of Rain–Land of Wind border, Tsunade requested intelligence on Sunagakure, and Kawafune and Sakumo warned that a direct advance would be difficult.
  • A Konoha intelligence ninja reported that Chiyo commanded Sunagakure’s border defenses, while the Third Kazekage and the Jinchuriki had not moved and an infiltrator had gone silent.
  • Tsunade and her advisers discussed the risks of engaging Sunagakure, including the likelihood that Shukaku would appear if Tsunade used a Tailed Beast Bomb.

Ch. 82Sakumo's Mission

Chiyo prepared Sunagakure for a night raid against Konoha, while Tsunade ordered Sakumo to lead a probe against the central frontline camp. As the operation approached, Tsunade studied Sunagakure’s poisons and Kawafune tried to reassure her about the burdens of command.

  • Chiyo warned Sunagakure’s forces about Konoha’s strength and ordered a night raid to stop them from entering the Land of Wind.

Ch. 83Chiyo Raids the Camp

Chiyo led a sudden Sand Ninja attack on the Konoha camp, where Kawafune fought her and destroyed much of her puppet arsenal. The assault failed, and Chiyo prepared to retreat as the battle turned against Sunagakure.

  • Sakumo left the camp with elite ninja to create a diversion, while Kawafune stayed with Tsunade.
  • An explosion announced the Sand Ninja attack, and Tsunade led Konoha’s ninja to defend the camp gates.

  • Sakumo led a small team into the Sand Ninja defenses, captured a Chunin to locate supplies, and ordered the supplies burned.
  • Sakumo turned back to rescue two Konoha ninja, then rejoined the fight and ordered his team to retreat while battling.
  • A young Sand Ninja couple sent their puppets after the retreating Konoha ninja.

Ch. 85Konoha's White Fang

Sakumo used the Gate of Pain and Flying Thunder God to help Konoha ninja escape a Sand Ninja pursuit, then killed Chiyo's son and daughter-in-law in battle. He led the survivors back to the Land of Rain, while Chiyo returned with her troops to her defensive line.

  • Sakumo opened the Gate of Pain and used Sword Art, Lightning Dragon to clear a path for the Konoha squad, then escaped with Flying Thunder God.
  • Sakumo rejoined the squad and left eight uninjured Konoha ninja behind to delay the pursuing Sand Ninja while the wounded continued toward the Land of Rain.
  • Sakumo killed Chiyo's son, and his wife unleashed all ten puppets in a furious attack before an explosion destroyed them and left her unable to fight.

  • Sakumo returned to camp as Chiyo brought her troops back to her defensive line.

Ch. 86Shocking News

Sakumo returned to the Konoha camp with wounded after helping burn the Sand Ninja supplies, and Tsunade treated the injured before agreeing to a major offensive. • Might Duy collapsed, and Kawafune called for Tsunade to examine him.

Ch. 92After the Battle

Ch. 96War Begins

Kawafune suspected the Sand Ninja were targeting Konoha’s supply route and left to protect it, while Tsunade prepared to meet their attack.
