Karl planned to use the militia as bait and a buffer, the Main Corps as an anvil, and the cavalry as a hammer, forming a flexible defense system capable of both attack and defense.

The core and vanguard of the formation were unexpectedly entrusted to the newly established Militia Camp.

At the very front was the best-equipped and relatively best-trained flintlock rifle company in the Militia Camp. Three hundred men in total were arranged into three skirmish lines. Their task was to use their range to wear down the enemy with preliminary volleys, then quickly retreat after making contact.

Close behind these three hundred Musketeers stood the main force of the Militia Camp: four hundred and fifty spearmen. They were arranged into ten ranks, each a dense square formation of forty-five men. With spears like a forest, they formed the first solid barrier against the enemy's charge. Passages had been left inside the square.

A gap of roughly three paces had deliberately been left between the flintlock rifle skirmish lines and the spear square. This served as a safe passage for the front-line skirmishers to retreat, preventing them from disrupting their own spear formation when they fell back in disorder.

Behind the left and right wings of the militia square, Karl deployed his most reliable core: the two Main Corps commanded by Brendan and Roland.

Each Main Corps detached two elite Musketeer companies of two hundred men apiece to cover the militia square's left and right wings.

They deployed in a tight formation of ten horizontal ranks, with twenty men in each rank. Their concentrated fire could effectively deliver crossfire against enemies attempting to strike the militia square from the flanks.

The remaining forces of the Main Corps were deployed in echelons farther behind.
