Turning into a Beast

The tumbling torches carved bright trails through the air, and after landing they kept burning, lighting that whole area so clearly that every hair and thread stood revealed!

Several Sauron Scouts were like nocturnal animals suddenly caught in a blinding glare, exposed in an instant! They froze where they stood, their faces full of shock and being caught completely off guard!

"Fire!" Almost at the same moment, the hoarse roars of the defending officers rang out from the rooftops and windows!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The explosive cracks of Matchlock Rifle fire and the shrill twang of bowstrings erupted almost simultaneously! Scorching lead shot and sharp arrows shot toward the Sauron Scouts pinned by the firelight like a sudden storm of wind and rain!

"Urgh!"

Pffft!

Screams rang out one after another! The Sauron Scouts exposed beneath the firelight had nowhere to hide at all, and three or four of them were brought down in an instant!

The remaining two were scared out of their wits, scrambling and crawling as they tried to flee back into the darkness, but the bullets and arrows that followed caught up to them too, sending them sprawling to the ground, where they twitched and stopped moving.

The sudden gunfire and shouting were like a ladle of cold water splashed into a seething oil pot, instantly setting the entire Shantytown Area ablaze!

"Enemy attack! Sauron Barbarians are raiding at night!"

"Quick! Get up! To your assigned positions!"

"Blow the horns! Sound the alarm!"

"Block the intersections! Bring the Caltrops over!"

The originally deathly silent Shantytown Area instantly exploded into chaos! Sharp warning whistles, jumbled footsteps, officers' roars, soldiers' urging cries, and the terrified wails of civilians... all kinds of sounds mixed together, forming one vast, clamorous wave of noise!
