Haotian lifted his hand slightly.

"The Buddha has come from afar. There is no need for such courtesy. Please, sit."

He spoke with great finesse, describing the matter as a win-win cooperation beneficial to both Buddhism and the Heavenly Court.

Yet after he finished speaking, the entire Lingxiao Treasure Hall sank into dead silence.

Haotian sat upright upon the dragon throne, no joy or anger visible on that majestic face.

"Let a Demon Monkey fight its way up to my Lingxiao Treasure Hall, trampling the dignity of my Heavenly Court underfoot?"

"Then have your Buddhism make a move, suppress it, and win renown throughout the Three Realms?"

Haotian's voice was very calm, yet it carried a bone-piercing chill.

"Buddha, do you think I would agree?"

The pressure inside the great hall instantly dropped to freezing point.

Tathagata, however, remained calm-faced. He knew this was only the beginning of the negotiation.
