Ch. 981The End!
Chapter Summary: “End!”
1. Key Plot Points and Events
- Fankong and his surviving followers escape a dangerous pursuit using a teleportation token, but the token is severely damaged and cracked.
- Because they are injured and cannot risk another spatial jump, Fankong orders everyone to recover before flying manually toward their secret stronghold in the Blackstone Star Belt.
- Fankong resolves to report the entire incident to Lord Liu Yuan once they return.
- Several centuries later, Xuan He continues searching the Divine Asura Domain for the remaining Flowing Light Domain rebels. Despite turning much of the Eastern Star Domain upside down, he finds no trace of Fankong or the others.
- In a desolate asteroid belt, Xuan He discovers True Man Yuan Dao and more than a dozen Flowing Light Domain cultivators after their own teleportation token fails.
- Xuan He’s forces overwhelm them immediately. Most are killed, while three Hunyuan Wuji cultivators are captured after their cultivation is crippled.
- When Xuan He attempts to interrogate the prisoners, hidden restrictions within their True Spirits activate, causing them to disintegrate into ash before revealing any information.
- Realizing the rebels’ backers have prepared ruthless anti-interrogation measures, Xuan He recognizes that the invasion is a carefully planned operation rather than a spontaneous experiment.
- Over the following centuries, Xuan He leads a large-scale purge, eliminating two additional Dao Realm Lords and hundreds of Hunyuan Wuji cultivators, along with countless weaker followers.
- Although some rebel groups resist and inflict casualties, most are destroyed. The more capable leaders, including Fankong and Xue Ku, escape into dangerous regions and disappear.
- Xuan He eventually abandons the search and returns to the Divine Asura Realm.
- In the Realm Lord’s Hall, he reports the operation to Great Elder Ming Luo. Ming Luo remains calm and unreadable, simply acknowledging the report and thanking Xuan He.
2. Character Developments
- Fankong: Demonstrates caution and leadership by refusing another teleportation after recognizing the token’s damage and their weakened state. He remains focused on survival and on informing Liu Yuan of the events.
- Xuan He: His frustration grows after centuries of fruitless searching, but he remains relentless and decisive. The prisoners’ self-destructing restrictions make him wary of the hidden enemy and reveal that he now views the conflict as a serious, organized invasion.
- True Man Yuan Dao and the captured rebels: Their confidence collapses into helplessness when confronted by Xuan He’s overwhelming forces. Their deaths also emphasize the strict control imposed by the mysterious force behind the invasion.
- Ming Luo: Maintains an extremely controlled and inscrutable demeanor. His restrained response suggests the purge, despite its scale, has not resolved the deeper threat.
3. Significant Themes
- Survival through caution and luck: Fankong’s escape is attributed largely to luck, while damaged resources and injuries force the survivors to prioritize safety over speed.
- The vastness of the Chaos Void: Escaping into dangerous, expansive regions makes the surviving rebels nearly impossible to locate, emphasizing the limits of even overwhelming power.
- Organized invasion and hidden conspiracies: The soul restrictions prove that the conflict is the result of long-term planning by a ruthless and highly prepared force.
- Power imbalance: Xuan He’s army annihilates most rebel groups with little resistance, showing the enormous military superiority of the Divine Asura Domain.
- Information control and sacrifice: The rebels’ implanted restrictions ensure that captured members cannot betray their leaders, even at the cost of their own lives.
- Incomplete victory: Although the purge destroys many enemies, the principal figures escape, leaving the central mystery and threat unresolved.
4. Character Interactions
- Fankong consults with his subordinates and decisively orders them to stop teleporting and recover before continuing by flight.
- Xuan He confronts True Man Yuan Dao’s group and orders the Divine Asura Guards to capture them without engaging in unnecessary conversation.
- Xuan He attempts to interrogate two prisoners, but both are killed by the restrictions embedded in their True Spirits. He then orders the final prisoner executed as well.
- Xuan He reports directly to Ming Luo before the silent senior officials of the Divine Asura Domain. Ming Luo responds with measured acknowledgment rather than praise or alarm, preserving the chapter’s tense and ominous atmosphere.
