At this point, the voice hesitated before saying, "You probably won't understand. What we saw went deeper than what you saw, but it was also far more despairing."
"Precisely because of that, some of the celestials fell and became members of the King Faction. Yet you insisted on becoming a member of the Benevolent Faction?" I asked.
"Yes. My lover, my friends, and many others all became members of the King Faction. We once fought side by side, doing everything we could to resist, but in the end, I had to cross swords with them."
At this point, the voice sounded utterly bitter.
I asked cautiously, "May I ask you about this situation?"
"What do you want to ask?" I asked.
"You said the celestials aren't gods, but why do you possess such tremendous power?"
"Powerful? We were once just ordinary people. The reason we became what we are was that we reached higher dimensions and saw scenery farther away."
"So, the celestials are essentially human too?" I asked.
"Yes. Precisely because we are human, some fell while others persevered. Expecting humanity to remain rational forever truly is asking for too much. I should have realized that long ago."
I was dumbfounded by this explanation and couldn't say a word.
It turned out that the Benevolent Faction and the King Faction had not existed among the celestials from the beginning. But at some point, immense power clouded some people's minds, making them look down from on high and even believe themselves to be gods.
They wanted to seize control of the entire universe's fate. That was precisely why the King Faction was born.
"How much power does your Benevolent Faction have left?" I asked.
"Not much. I'm considered one of the leaders of the Benevolent Faction."
