I had no time to think. I lunged forward, my body awkwardly bursting through the back door before crashing to the ground.
The woman's arm was only inches away from me, but she stopped, as if there were an invisible wall in front of her.

I sat on the ground, panting heavily, and looked at her with immense relief.

The school uniform girl shot me a venomous look before turning and leaving.
I slumped on the ground and only managed to stand up after a long while. Then I turned and left.
Just as I returned to school, my phone suddenly rang. Looking at the message on it, I sighed, my heart filled with regret.

Chapter 2: Doom Was Hard to Escape
It all began a month ago. I had a childhood friend named Li Yuming. His family was in terrible financial condition, and I had always been the one helping him.
But he suddenly got rich. He kept buying expensive phones and laptops, and invited us out to eat every few days.

The others also turned and left. Now, I was the only one remaining.
