If he knew nothing of this, Iver would continue promoting various welfare policies through the Harpies, drawing more people to Dawn City.
Just as Iver had done before: providing an unlimited water supply, granting citizenship, teaching the slaves to stand up, eradicating slavery and, in doing so, eradicating the slaves themselves, making himself the greatest and most righteous benefactor... letting everything develop toward the light.
Then, with the "sudden" arrival of the Abyss Angel, the apocalypse would descend--
The Abyss Angel would swallow everything, including Paradise City and the Red Hand Party as they fought each other, and kill tens of millions of innocents.
And Iver would descend like a savior, defeat the Abyss Angel, and gain control of the Great Sea Power. He would then create an inland sea in the very heart of the desert, create rivers, and bring a true oasis to this dead land, causing people to worship Iver like a god...
"...But what could he gain from this?"
Iver frowned.
The more he reasoned through it, the more lost he felt.
No matter how he looked at it, Iver was the only one who stood to benefit. This great feat of salvation and god-slaying would cause the resonance of his Dedication Path and Path of Transcendence to reach its peak. While Iver's authority in the Material Realm rose to another level, he would also advance more quickly.
However one looked at it, this arrangement was enormously beneficial to Iver and absolutely disadvantageous to the Ring Angel.
--If Iver completed the first Ouroboros Ring before the Serpent Father stepped down on August 8, he might be able to use the second Ouroboros Ring to pull down and kill the Ring Angel!
And what would the Ring Angel gain... but the souls of millions, tens of millions
