"It was like this with Cardinal Belisarius... He had been stationed in the Parthian Ancient Kingdom for a long time. I admired him greatly—I grew up listening to his legends. It was also because of him that I joined the Judgment Center.
"Because the slave system in the Parthian Ancient Kingdom arose from its cultural and political systems. Although we all believe it is wrong, we cannot simply deny it outright—only when the Parthians themselves rise up and awaken can they completely reject it and advance to the next stage of civilization. Any physical interference beyond that is, in essence, aggression."
Cardinal Dominic said softly, "Without the 'good masters,' the Parthian Ancient Kingdom would be nothing more than a lifeless wasteland. They made contracts with the phantasmal demons living in the Deep Sea of the Dream Realm and gained the ability to create water out of thin air... forcibly creating several oases in the Parthian Desert, where life should never have existed.
"Since they monopolized this resource, selling the water at a high price was the seller's freedom; and those who thirsted for water selling themselves to them was the buyer's freedom. The 'Market Supervisors' might regulate such behavior, but we consider it a normal part of the process—the sicknesses and deep-rooted flaws of civilization are also part of civilization's normal development.
"Besides, we couldn't possibly kidnap the good masters and force them to provide water to others for free. Nor did we have the power to transport water into that demon-haunted desert... That desert was cursed long ago. Any water without sin would quickly dry up after entering it—supposedly because there were vast amounts of Sin Thorns beneath the desert, though I'm not certain about that.
"From my perspective... that place was never meant to give birth to life
