Arsene's expression suddenly turned serious.
His deep-set eyes narrowed slightly, and his lips pressed together unconsciously. His arm and palm tensed at the same time, making him look like a frozen statue.
"What's wrong, Arsene?"
The man who gave off a "pale" impression revealed a brilliant smile, intentionally or otherwise showing his sharp, beastlike fangs. "Did I mistake you for someone else?"
Alice's eyes suddenly widened.
Wariness and astonishment filled her eyes. She had to use all her reason to suppress the rattling in her throat so she wouldn't scream.
—A vampire! As a member of the Hawkeye Organization, she naturally had a considerable understanding of the Child of the Moon race.
However, her own strength was insufficient, her status was far too noble, and she had only recently gotten into trouble in the Theocracy. The organization now didn't dare assign her anything dangerous.
As a result, Alice had never personally carried out even a single assassination mission against a Child of the Moon.
And this Child of the Moon before her... merely looking at him gave Alice a clear sense of an extremely powerful oppressive force.
The pressure was as intense as the Deep Sea, suffocating and dizzying. Yet she didn't dare reveal the slightest abnormality, or even show that she had recognized him as a Child of the Moon... because ordinary Iris citizens shouldn't have such an in-depth understanding of the Child of the Moon.
Even in Iris, the Child of the Moon remained hidden in society's shadows. To most citizens, "the vampire Death Goktre" was still merely an urban legend, and certainly not something an inexperienced young lady should know about.
But...
Alice had a feeling that the man had deliberately revealed his fangs to provoke her into losing control.
