"Which way did that lady go?"
Iver asked at once.
The girl was clever too, and guessed that Iver was looking for someone.
"She came from over there and went that way!"
Because she had a favorable impression of Iver, she volunteered, "That pretty lady got out of a carriage! The horse was brown, and very, very tall! The carriage was brown too, almost the same color as the horse."
"Do you remember what pattern was on the carriage?"
Iver pressed.
The girl immediately replied, "There was a white, square pattern on the carriage, like a maze!"
That was Minister of Justice Carter's carriage!
Iver realized at once that it was the Carter Family's distinctive crest.
That carriage must have belonged to Arun Carter, the current chairman of the White Shoes Club!
The Minister of Justice was also a member of the Chocolate Faction. With such a high status, the carriage he used when traveling naturally had anti-divination functions. Ordinary rituals and tracking spells could never confirm the target.
If he performed a normal search ritual, Iver would only keep failing. Only the Eye of Avalon could locate the target.
Fortunately, today was the Candle Holder Festival...
Perhaps Candle Holder was more willing to answer Iver's prayers at this time. Perhaps Emma's reckless actions had also incurred the displeasure of Candle Holder or one of his apostles. Thus, while Isabel could not be found by the search ritual, the apostle who had descended also gave Iver some guidance—when Isabel had briefly gotten out of the carriage, she had left behind a trace at the spot.
And after guiding Iver here, the apostle had allowed him to coincidentally encounter the girl he had once bought flowers from.
One coincidence might have been nothing.
But now, one coincidence was nested within another...
