After receiving the Sin Thorns Fruit, the Pure White Saintess hurriedly left, seemingly eager to verify some conjecture of her own.
Matilda, meanwhile, took Iver with her and prepared to head downstairs to their residence.
Generally speaking, this should have been Pure White's job. Cardinal Matilda usually never left the Holy Order Department.
But since Pure White had personal matters to attend to, the blue-haired Cardinal chose to look after Iver in her place.
Whether as a student, a guest, the archbishop, or the key person capable of solving the Condensed Amber problem... they could not simply give him an address and throw him out.
"Remember this place, Iver."
Matilda led Iver onto the lift and explained, "There are twelve groups of these lifts on every floor. You can wait at whichever one is closest to you. Each group has one going up and one going down—the gold ones only go up, and the black ones only go down. They stop for three minutes at every floor."
"If there are too many people, wait at the entrance for the next one. Don't squeeze in. Although there's a barrier protecting it, it's still very dangerous."
Matilda patiently instructed Iver as though she were teaching a child to ride an elevator for the first time.
Iver nodded at her words.
Indeed, this thing looked dangerous.
Although this "elevator" had handrails, it was nowhere near fully enclosed. It looked more like a protruding observation balcony, and was extremely frightening.
The timing mechanism here was also highly visible.
The lift platform itself was not a physical object, but a type of barrier. Its metallic portion was actually a ring, and it looked more like a force-field generator. Dark-gold glowing patterns spread across the black force field like vines, gradually filling the black, disk-shaped field.
