Sunlight drew a warm line across his palm. Chen Wuya slowly curled his five fingers, then loosened them again. That force current, slanting left and sinking, still roamed near his dantian. Like a newly excavated hidden canal, it had yet to take full shape, yet already possessed a course of its own. He was no longer surprised, nor did he try to forcefully guide it. He merely sank his awareness down and, following the trail of that Misaligned Force, probed inch by inch into the depths of his meridians.
Last night's rhythm still echoed within him. Not a sound, but something subtler—every misjudgment, every stumble, every jarring sensation when he struck backhandedly was now linked together by this current of force, forming broken yet discernible paths. They defied reason, ignored all conventions, yet somehow, they worked.
He closed his eyes and made his breathing exceptionally shallow.
His intent traveled upward against the flow along that route which strayed from orthodoxy. Starting three inches left of his dantian, it circled along the Girdling Vessel, pierced a hidden acupoint in the diaphragm, and reached the inner side of his shoulder blade. There should not have been a qi passage there, yet the Misaligned Force had forcibly chiseled one out. When he tried for the third time to guide the force with his mind, that power activated ahead of time, completing a Lesser Heavenly Circuit on its own, half a breath faster than before.
The instant the current returned to its origin, a tremor came from the depths of his sea of consciousness.
It did not ring in his ears, nor did words simply appear. It was a change in his overall perception, as though one corner of a view once veiled by gauze had abruptly cleared. Immediately afterward, a line of pale
