Ninja Training and the Three Basic Ninjutsu Techniques
The more eagerly he had come, the more bedraggled he was when he left.
After Naruto saw him out, the Third Hokage walked alone through the alley. His shadow stretched long beneath the streetlights until it vanished at the end of the road.
Inside, Naruto busied himself clearing the dishes. Thinking of the old Third Hokage's ugly expression, he could not help but laugh. "Big Fox, would you say this counts as crossing hands with the Hokage and coming out completely unscathed?"
"Looks like there isn't much difference in our strength after all."
The Nine-Tails remained expressionless, too drained to mock Naruto's tactic of hurting the enemy by eight hundred while losing a thousand himself.
Still, seeing Naruto's happy smile, the Nine-Tails felt an indescribable sense of comfort, and his gaze softened considerably.
Naruto truly seemed different from the previous two Jinchuriki. He was willing to open his heart to him.
The next morning.
Naruto had just returned home from his morning training when he noticed an extra cardboard box by his door.
Holding the box, Naruto looked around and was quite pleased with the Anbu's delivery service. At least they did not handle packages violently, and they even delivered them right to his door.
When he opened the box, he found books related to ninja training, selected editions from the Hokage.
Their covers bore titles such as "How to Properly Extract Chakra," "Key Points of Taijutsu Training," and "Training and Insights on the Three Basic Ninjutsu Techniques," covering every aspect of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu.
Naruto grew excited at the sight of the books.
Having transmigrated while still in his mother's womb, he could finally come into contact with supernatural power and fulfill his dream of running across roofs and scaling walls.
Picking up the book on Chakra extraction, Naruto sat on the couch and carefully read through it. Although some of the sentences were rather obscure, he did his best to understand their meaning.
Combining it with memories from his previous life, Naruto roughly figured out what Chakra actually was.
Chakra was the manifestation of spiritual energy and physical energy. By mixing the two in a one-to-one ratio, one could obtain the advanced energy known as Chakra, the foundation of the ninja power system.
However, merging spiritual and physical energy was no easy task.
Beginners often needed more than half a month to extract Chakra. Mediocre talents might fail to extract Chakra even in their entire lives, unable to become true ninjas.
Naruto took only a few hours to extract Chakra.
It was a warm current flowing through his body. It felt extremely comfortable as it circulated through his meridians, and he could control it with his mind.
Naruto tried channeling Chakra into his arm. He bent down, gripped one of the couch legs, and lifted lightly. The couch, weighing over a hundred jin, rose above his head.
But his Chakra was quickly exhausted. Unable to maintain his strength, Naruto was pinned to the floor beneath the couch.
After crawling out from under it, Naruto looked somewhat embarrassed. At the same time, he realized that Chakra training was far from simple and involved all sorts of risks.
Naruto became much more cautious in his next few attempts.
Even so, moving furniture around still caught the attention of the downstairs neighbors. They immediately began cursing, shouting about who had such poor manners.
Before long, after his initial excitement faded, Naruto ran to the Sealing Space to show off to the Nine-Tails.
The Nine-Tails raised his eyelids with a listless expression, as though saying, I know you extracted Chakra, but in this village, there are thousands—if not tens of thousands—of people who can extract Chakra. It's nothing worth making a fuss over.
How about I set up a few tables and celebrate for you?
As for Naruto extracting an amount of Chakra comparable to a Genin's on his first attempt, the Nine-Tails automatically ignored that.
In the eyes of a Tailed Beast, Genin, Chunin, and Jonin had no meaningful difference in Chakra reserves.
Naruto understood the look in the Nine-Tails' eyes and left the Sealing Space, knowing there was no point. Still, although his Chakra could not compare to the Nine-Tails', it was at least at the level of Chakra tons—equivalent to four Kakashi, at minimum.
Extracting Chakra consumed a great deal of stamina. Starving, Naruto began preparing lunch.
After lunch, Naruto paced around the room while picking up the remaining books.
Having experienced the boost Chakra gave to strength and speed, it was time to try using ninjutsu. Compared to a warrior who charged in with great swings, Naruto still believed that mages were the true romance.
Unfortunately, the ninjutsu the old Third Hokage had sent over consisted only of the most basic Three Basic Ninjutsu Techniques.
Though basic, the Three Basic Ninjutsu Techniques were also the most practical. The Clone Technique could confuse enemies, the Transformation Jutsu could be used for espionage and gathering intelligence, while the Substitution Technique... had no presence at all.
In short, Naruto had long yearned for these three basic yet useful ninjutsu.
The hand seals for the Three Basic Ninjutsu Techniques were simple. Naruto remembered them after one glance, but hand seals were merely an aid. The most important thing was how to manipulate the Chakra within his body.
Once he understood the principle, Naruto began forming hand seals.
With a bang, the smoke cleared to reveal a twisted, malformed clone beside him, white foam spilling from its mouth.
The Clone Technique had failed, and the reason was simple. He had been disrupted while casting the ninjutsu, and the source of that disruption was the Chakra leaking out from the Nine-Tails.
After realizing this, Naruto ran into the Sealing Space and found the Nine-Tails looking lazy as ever.
Before Naruto could speak, the Nine-Tails sneered, "Brat, I know why you're here. If you can't even master such a simple ninjutsu, you should give up on becoming a ninja. The path of a ninja doesn't suit you."
Naruto glanced at the Nine-Tails and sneered.
"Don't think I don't know you're behind this. My hand seals and Chakra flow were both fine. The only reason the Clone Technique failed was because your Chakra interfered with it."
"You mean that Chakra? I wasn't deliberately targeting you. You simply can't resist interference from outside Chakra, so your ninjutsu failed. However, if you're willing to beg me and call me Uncle from now on, I might consider helping you."
As he spoke, the Nine-Tails proudly raised his fox head, seemingly already picturing Naruto begging him.
Naruto gave the Nine-Tails a deep look, then left the Sealing Space and began thinking of a solution.
From the current situation, it would be difficult for him to escape the influence of the Nine-Tails' Chakra. But asking the Nine-Tails to help and admitting defeat left him unwilling.
Unless he could precisely control the power of every strand of Chakra, he would be able to completely rid himself of its influence.
But that would be far too troublesome. It required diligent training, and he did not know how to do it yet.
Besides, the Nine-Tails was not asking for much. Naruto only had to call him Uncle Nine-Tails, become his little brother, and act respectful around him. In return, he could earn the Nine-Tails' goodwill.
In the future, borrowing the Nine-Tails' power to activate Kurama Mode and rise to Super Kage would no longer be an unreachable dream.
The Nine-Tails was probably thinking the same thing.
Unfortunately, Naruto had a Golden Finger. Not long ago, he had also obtained the Gentle Fist Training Notes. Just from the name, it clearly involved Chakra control—the exact ability he needed right now.
With that thought, Naruto immediately claimed the Gentle Fist Training Notes. A set of training memories concerning the Gentle Fist instantly appeared in his mind.
After digesting those training memories.
Naruto gained a new understanding of how to precisely control Chakra and how to use taijutsu to injure enemies. However, to fully make those training memories his own, he still needed a great deal of practice.
Still, the most urgent matter was preparing dinner. Only after filling his stomach would he have the strength to think about anything else.
With no one around to mooch a meal, Naruto ate his fill.
At the same time, after a full day of training, Naruto's appetite had increased considerably. The food reserves that had originally been enough for fifteen days would now be exhausted in ten, leaving him facing a food shortage.
When that time came, he would have to battle wits with the profiteer again.
That old Third Hokage was really stingy. The living expenses he gave were nowhere near enough, and he only gave one month's worth each month. If Naruto were some God King, the Third Hokage would already have earned himself a death sentence!
Lost in wild thoughts, Naruto began to feel tired. He lay on his bed, gazed at the moon, and fell asleep.
