Itachi had slaughtered his clansmen for the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, to prove his own worth?
Hearing this, Shisui frowned. It did explain why Itachi had turned on his clansmen, but he still felt that something was off. He just couldn't put it into words.
After pondering for a moment, Shisui continued, "Is that why you hid Sasuke away?"
Itachi looked at Shisui, then nodded. "That's right. I killed our parents in front of Sasuke to make him awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan. Unfortunately, his love wasn't deep enough. He only awakened the Double Tomoe Sharingan. What a disappointment."
"And you aren't worried that I'll kill Sasuke and stop your ambition of obtaining the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan?"
Itachi froze for a moment, then burst out laughing. "I told you all this because you've already lost your chance to escape. You don't actually think I'm the only ninja who came to the Land of Waves with Kisame, do you?"
Before he finished speaking, Itachi unleashed Amaterasu on Shisui. Black flames immediately clung to the hem of Shisui's clothes.
Shisui swung his blade and cut off the burning hem, but the flames did not go out. He frowned and stared intently at the bloody tears streaming from Itachi's eyes.
"This is your Mangekyō ocular technique?"
"Of course. These are the inextinguishable flames of Amaterasu. Show me your Mangekyō Sharingan, Shisui. Or have you already lost it? Did someone take it from you?"
Shisui snorted coldly, his figure splitting into more than a dozen afterimages. "Even without the Mangekyō, I'm still Body Flicker Shisui. I can still capture you alive and make you kneel at Naka Shrine."
"Naka Shrine?" Itachi Uchiha was dismissive. "Then I'll be waiting to see it, Shisui."
Because of the flooding, Gato had been forced out of his secret chamber.
