Along the way, he had opened several rooms to inspect them and even burned one room completely clean. But nothing had happened. No vicious ghosts had appeared, nor had any inn staff come to stop him.

It was as though this were simply an abandoned corridor.

"That doesn't make sense."

By his reckoning, an area as difficult to enter as the fifth floor had to harbor some major problem. Even if it hadn't revealed itself at first, after he had traveled this far, some clues should have surfaced.
