"What the hell was that?"
Xu Yanxing felt his hair stand on end, instinctively sensing an inexplicable great terror.
"Don't look!"
The man barked a warning.
He roughly forced Xu Yanxing's head around.
"Whatever you do, don't look!"
"If you remember it, it'll remember you. It could appear in front of you at any moment."
"Don't look at it, and don't think about it."
"Let's get out of here first!"
The man's voice was anxious. Clearly, that rubbery ghostly figure was extremely dangerous.
"Where did your laboratory get all these damn things? They all seem to follow certain rules," Xu Yanxing said quietly.
The few evil spirits he had encountered along the way had challenged his understanding.
Not only were they bizarrely shaped,
but they also possessed traits straight out of urban legends.
"Didn't I already tell you? They're all products of the laboratory. Of course you wouldn't have seen them outside," the man said as he ran.
"The institute has always been conducting grafting experiments."
"Grafting humans onto evil spirits, grafting evil spirits onto other evil spirits, or using evil spirits to cultivate certain things."
"But most supernatural collisions are uncontrollable."
"They either die suddenly or produce strange evil entities or living people."
"The researchers extract data from both those that die and the new varieties successfully created through grafting, then use that data in the next experiment to test it."
"After enough experiments, they identify patterns in the results."
As expected of a staff member, the man quickly began explaining the laboratory's situation to Xu Yanxing. He also told him that many experiments could not be replicated.
Success this time did not guarantee success the next time.
It was not uncommon for an experiment to succeed seven or eight times, only to never succeed again.
So the institute
