Once space was torn open, the likelihood of attracting evil entities rose exponentially!

The actual "thickness" and "dimensions" of the barriers they pierced were completely different.
The spacetime outside the barrier was distorted. Different "thicknesses" and "dimensions" connected to entirely different abysses, and attracted evil entities with vastly different levels of strength.
