The prison stretched deep.
But it was not as large as they had imagined.
A quarter of an hour later.
Jiang Qiao and the others reached the end.
This place was clearly different from the areas before it. Not only was it damper, with water seeping everywhere, but the cells were damaged as well.
Several cells had broken open.
Their iron bars were twisted and snapped, and they were empty inside.
From the looks of it.
The evil spirits imprisoned there must have escaped.
"Holy shit."
"Even jailbreaks are a thing here."
Jiang Qiao walked over and touched the deformed bars. His fingertips could still feel a sinister, bone-chilling aura. The evil spirits had left it behind, a testament to just how terrifying the escapees were.
Besides that.
The oil lamps on the walls to either side were actually still burning.
Though their light was faint.
Their flames flickered.
As though they might go out at any moment.
But there was no mistaking it. After who knew how many years, they were still burning!
"One."
"Two."
"Three..."
Jiang Qiao counted a total of nine oil lamps.
Eight lined the two sides, while one hung on the thick wall at the end of the prison corridor.
And beneath that wall.
There actually stood an old dressing table!
Yes.
A dressing table!
A mirror, drawers, a small cabinet, a tabletop... The dark red wood looked rather sinister, and its quaint, old-fashioned design inevitably brought to mind the dim rooms of the old era.
It had been a bleak era.
Oppressive.
Gloomy.
Devoid of daylight and utterly without hope.
Even the things left behind from that era carried an air of decay and decrepitude.
But...
Whatever era it came from.
Why was it here? Why was it at the end of a prison?
