The temple looked dilapidated from outside, but the palace within was enormous.
Once he reached this point,
he finally saw traces of battle.
The floor was a mess, littered with blood and corpses. Lingering supernatural forces surged in the air, a sign that an exceptionally fierce supernatural battle had erupted here.
The farther in he went, the more corpses there were, and the more mangled and bizarre they became.
Besides those,

He reached the end of the palace.
Before him stood a damaged wall, with a passage leading underground beyond it.

Stepping over the corpses at the entrance, Jiang Qiao entered the passage without stopping.
The passage was neither long nor short.
It took him about half an hour to reach the bottom.
The exit was another wall that had been punched through. Beyond it lay an immensely vast space, with a towering, majestic temple standing at its center.
It was not ornate.
It was even somewhat rough-hewn.
But that very roughness gave it a wild air that hit him head-on.
Massive, unhewn stones.
Iron chains as thick as water vats.
Stone pillars that would take dozens of people linking arms to encircle...
Every step of the staircase was taller than an adult. One would have to reach overhead just to touch its edge.
At the top of the stairs,
the temple entrance was as tall as a skyscraper.
It was wide enough for more than ten
