The supernatural revival was accelerating.
This was not merely a consensus throughout the supernatural circle. Even ordinary people had noticed something was wrong, living in constant fear that the supernatural would swallow their cities.
Those with money and influence.
Those without money but with relatives in the countryside.
All had begun leaving cities en masse, fleeing to the suburbs, the countryside, and even remote, uninhabited regions to take shelter.
They had once believed big cities were safe.
Cities had strength in numbers, people from all walks of life, and official special ability users gathered there.
By comparison.
Most people felt that impoverished, deserted backwaters were more likely to harbor unspeakable horrors, and that cries for help there would go unanswered.
No one would even care if they died.
Yet...
Reality had dealt them a crushing blow.
As the supernatural revival progressed, supernatural events occurred far more frequently in cities than in the countryside.
And the natural-disaster-level supernatural events that had emerged one after another.
Had all appeared in cities, too.
Just two days earlier, the supernatural presence shrouding Ninggu City had finally left, allowing the various factions to enter and investigate.
The city's buildings were fairly intact.
They had suffered little damage.
But after searching the entire city, they found not a single living person.
Never mind living people.
Not a single corpse remained.
As the northernmost major city, Ninggu City had never had a particularly large population. Moreover, before the supernatural sealed off the city, at least half its residents had gradually fled because of the conflict between Tiger Lian Mountain and the great families.
Another wave had fled just before the supernatural blockade.
But however many fled, a major city was still a major city. More than a hundred thousand residents had remained.
Now they were all gone.
