The image shook violently, signaling that it had encountered some kind of interference.
Immediately afterward.
A strange black substance, like ink soaking into rice paper, spread through the copper basin, quickly covering the entire basin. The surveillance image on the other side vanished as well.
"What happened?"
"Could it be that the Vicious Ghost killed the human eye?"
The woman asked in confusion, glancing at the old man across from her.
This was not their first time using the copper basin. Previously, the "human eyes" had almost all died on the spot after completing the tasks assigned by the curse. One or two had even been killed by Vicious Ghosts before they could complete their tasks.
But no matter which way it happened.
Once someone died, the water in the copper basin would return to normal and stop displaying the image.
The image had vanished like this before, but the basin had never turned completely black... It looked a little like an old surveillance camera breaking down. But damn it, this was not a surveillance device—it was a Supernatural Item!
The old man said nothing. He merely frowned and stared at the water in the basin.
Then.
He picked up a bamboo stick, lowered it into the basin, and gently stirred it a few times. But before he could pull the stick out, a terrifying black aura visible to the naked eye suddenly rushed up along it.
"Damn!"
The old man's expression changed dramatically. His fingers jerked away as if he had been bitten by a snake, and he released the stick just before the black aura touched him.
With no one holding it, the bamboo stick fell into the water.
Then, in a way that defied common sense, it sank into the copper basin without any buoyancy at all.
