I've never really talked to everyone about this book, Mysterious. I've always been worried that I wouldn't be able to write what I wanted to write, so I never felt confident enough to discuss it.
But now, there are quite a lot of words, the results are pretty satisfying, and there's also been some controversy, so I thought I'd write this and have a chat with everyone.
Old Ghost has always been a pretty simple person. Back when I was in school, I could eat just two plain steamed buns for lunch in order to save money to rent books. I'm still the same now. The simple life is the most important thing.
Is making money from writing books good?
Of course it is. Very good, especially good. But is writing books only about making money?
I don't think so.
Of course, that also has something to do with the fact that I'm incapable of writing a hit book.
I'm too self-indulgent when I write. I think about too many things, and it's easy for me to get stuck in a dead end. Even though it's not particularly useful, I still want to write these things out. As a result, the people who read my work tend to be somewhat niche. From Lue Tian Ji to the few books that came afterward, everything was lukewarm except for Crimson Moon, which got a bit lucky. Maybe I simply don't have that ability, but I've never forced myself to pursue some other style, either.
The reason is simple. Writing this kind of book makes me feel pretty damn good.
It's precisely because I enjoy myself that I still have certain standards for my writing.
