The glacier moved at a terrifying speed. Brando's first reaction was to run toward either side of the valley, but his body had already reached its limit. Every step sent excruciating pain through him, as if his entire body were falling apart, and he was moving at less than a tenth of his usual speed. Unyielding Talent merely allowed him to cling to life; it was nowhere near enough to let him escape the avalanche zone, which spanned dozens of miles.

The earth roared and trembled beneath his feet, making it even harder for him to stand steadily. Soon, the rolling thunder reached his back. Brando glanced over his shoulder and saw that what had looked like a thin line of snow in the distance had become a glacial torrent nearly a hundred meters high.

The torrent swallowed everything in its path, mixed with countless razor-sharp rocks. Someone caught in it would probably fare little better than someone dragged into a meat grinder. But when Brando turned around again, he saw that the nearest high ground on either side of the valley was still at least several miles away. His heart sank.
