However, when the canopy of Valhalla began adjusting the direction of its leaves that day, and sunlight pierced the dense layers of branches to shine over the lower district, the new residents of Valhalla left their homes and stepped onto the streets—only to discover that the fortress looked somewhat different from usual.
Trees resembling lampposts grew along the streets of the district. One or more moonstones hung from their curling trunks. During the day, these crystals absorbed sunlight, and at night, they radiated a soft glow like moonlight, illuminating the entire lower district. They also attracted fireflies to forage around them, decorating the whole city as though it had come from a dream.
Yet early that morning, people discovered clusters of fresh flowers growing beside these "lampposts." Ribbons had been hung from them as well. From the horizontally extending branches of Valhalla's main trunk overhead, colorful silks dangled down, embroidered with the Kolkovan Royal Silver Lily Crest. Only at the ends of the silks could one see the Fir Territory Emblem.
For Valhalla's new residents, this was not their first time seeing such a scene. Valhalla had yet to hire any municipal workers, so this was certainly the work of the Light Spirits. They decorated the city at night, then gave everyone a surprise when morning arrived. This was not the first time they had done so.
The previous occasion had been before the Holy Fire Festival. The people could not help but subconsciously wonder: Could another festival be approaching?
Unfortunately, no matter how hard they racked their brains, they could not think of what festival might be coming up. The Autumn Harvest Festival was still a long way off, and with rumors of war from the north drawing ever closer, it was impossible to hold any kind of festival
