Brando and the others slowly moved forward with the crowd. As they passed through a corridor and entered the main hall, they saw numerous carvings of spider maidservants on the walls lining both sides. At the end of the corridor stood a tall statue that had not yet been destroyed. It was covered with black cloth, but it was obvious without thinking that it was a statue of the Spider Goddess.

It seemed that this Sanctuary had originally been a Moonless Sanctuary. The Goathead Cultists had occupied it too recently to have made many changes. Even the renovations had been completed hastily, leaving it merely superficial.

The other Goathead Cultists were not surprised by this at all. Not one of them even glanced at the statue covered in black cloth. Some simply kept their heads down and trudged forward, while others whispered among themselves about something.

Demons worshipped chaos, so their followers naturally could not be too orderly either. Merely refraining from causing trouble during the gathering was already the limit. Achieving the quiet, solemn atmosphere of the weekly grand gatherings held by the Temple of Flames and the Sanctuary's followers was clearly impossible. Not only was it impossible, it might even anger the demons they worshipped.

The faithful passed through the corridor and entered a hall. The hall naturally had the style of the Moonless Sanctuary as well, but the statue at its northern end had already been smashed. The pedestal where it had once stood was empty, with no replacement yet installed. This alone showed that the Goathead Cultists had not occupied this Sanctuary for very long.
