The sunlight pouring over the plaza of Fusha Sanctuary was almost painfully bright. Spearpoints gleamed like snow, while Haruze stood tall on the steps of Fusha Sanctuary, long sword in hand and drenched in blood, gritting his teeth as he refused to fall. Summer Wind fluttered the long banners atop the sanctuary spires, the Golden Flame Holy Emblem shining brightly as Silver Tree Petals drifted down like snow.
The Imperial army was surging into the plaza, and the White Lion Guard's defensive perimeter was gradually shrinking.
But they absolutely could not retreat—
"Haruze! Get up! One more time!" His sister's voice was stern yet gentle, filled with irresistible strength. She placed her soft, cool hand against his forehead and studied his eyes carefully before speaking, each word distinct. "You are the only man in the Kolkova family. You have no choice. You must shoulder your responsibilities and obligations! You are the king. Your blood should be shed for the Kolkova family, for the royal house, and for the people who have entrusted themselves to you."
"A true king is the one who bleeds first—"
Amid the chaotic cries of battle, the anxious shout of a White Lion Guard knight seemed to reach his thoughts from the distant horizon. "Your Highness, please retreat to the rear... We can't hold this place any longer."
At some point, the leather tie binding her hair had broken. Her long silver hair streamed in the wind, strands brushing across her bloodstained face. A smile blossomed on that resolute yet gentle face, giving it the beauty of a princess. Haruze lowered his head and looked at the knight who was drenched in blood. With a faint smile, he said, "I can't retreat... because we'll win very soon... I believe in my teacher. He'll definitely do it."
