Background / History

The Demon Suppressing Division arose after anomalies caused widespread chaos. Its predecessor, the Embroidered Uniform Guard, already consisted of martial experts whose vital energy could harm or kill anomalies; the dynasty reorganized this force to recruit capable people across the land and combat anomalies collectively 10.

The Division’s stated purpose is to protect the peace of the human world and resist evil forces. Its members are expected to accept the possibility of sacrifice, while receiving court salaries, internal cultivation methods, martial arts, and access to contribution-point exchanges 47.

Yunzhou City became an early focal point because a city-destroying Fierce-level anomaly was suppressed beneath it. Division personnel arrived to reinforce the seal, but Division Master Zhao Ting died weakening the Tree Demon during the crisis. Deputy Director Sun De temporarily stabilized the organization and resumed recruitment afterward 10 27 34.

Entrance Assessment

The new-recruit assessment has three stages:

Passing recruits become official members, gain access to internal methods and martial arts, and earn further resources through contribution points 47.

• Yunzhou sealing crisis — Zhao Ting divided the Division into patrol, investigation, and defense groups to protect the sealing ceremony. When the Tree Demon attacked, he sacrificed his own strength to weaken it while allied cultivators reinforced the formation. 23 27
• Defense of Yunzhou headquarters — the Division issued a call to arms as anomalies swarmed toward its headquarters; local martial artists answered and fought alongside its members. 28
• Evil Suppressing Forest investigation — recruits were sent into the sealed forest to survive and obtain intelligence on captured anomalies and the weakening seal. 37 38
• Ghost Festival defense — Director Wang Lin assigned forces to break the Hundred Ghost Night Parade Formation, protect the Tree Demon seal, and defend the Demon Suppressing Pagoda. 246
• Demon Suppressing Pagoda battle — Division disciples formed talisman, archery, and array defenses during the Blood Moon assault, while cultists attempted to corrode the pagoda and free its prisoners. 247 249
• Myriad Evil Cave containment — reinforcements established a large sealing formation around the cave after the Demon Suppressing Token was stolen and demons began escaping. 300 303
• Demonic Blood Curse response — Lin Yu used a Division token to alert branches throughout the land to investigate and suppress the Netherworld Cult’s Demonic Blood Curse with Soul Suppressing Nails. 460
• Defense of Nanyuan City — Southern-region members fought blood spirit puppets at the city walls during a major assault. 581

Internal Corruption and Failures

The Division’s authority and reputation have been undermined by corrupt members. A caravan reported that Day Roamer Han Yuan abducted and murdered civilians with Commander Song Qingyan’s protection, while a witness who reported the crime was framed and executed; these allegations caused public distrust toward the organization 65.

Commander Liu Feng was later exposed as a Netherworld Cult traitor who provided information on Soul Devouring Array Plates planted throughout Great Yan’s seven prefectures 240 244. Wang Lin was also revealed as a traitor after the Tree Demon crisis, while his failure to act contributed to heavy casualties among Yunzhou’s Division disciples 252 257.
