Winding, undulating sand ridges stretched one after another, like the flowing golden hair of a golden-haired maiden.
He gently scooped up a handful of golden sand at his feet. The grains streamed through his fingers, warm and delicate, impossible to hold.
In the distance, a golden river flowed from beyond the horizon, winding onward. It lacked the surging fury of ordinary rivers; there was only the fine rustling of "sha-sha-sha," like silkworms in a rearing house chewing mulberry leaves.
The river was broad. As Qin He strolled along its bank, he could only gaze into the far distance before barely making out what seemed to be the riverbanks merging as one at the edge of the sky.
Little Sable curiously leaped down from Qin He's shoulder, hopping about at the river's edge, its round eyes brimming with wonder.

A river formed from flowing yellow sand.
It wound down from the northern reaches of the great desert, traveling south for who knew how many tens of thousands of miles. After reaching Yellow Wind Ridge, it abandoned its sand and flowed as water, pouring into the Sea of Fury.
At the deepest point of the quicksand lay a great river, carrying the flowing sand as it wound onward. It was exceedingly strange.
Great demons dwelled in the Sha River. Over this short stretch of road, Qin He sensed no fewer than a hundred demons, some strong and some weak, fleeing south in mad panic, raising wave after wave of "sand waves."
