After pondering for a moment, Qin He still set off.
The town covered quite a large area, scattered along the river bend. It was not particularly bustling, but with Evernight about to descend, it could not be called deserted either.
At the mouth of the valley leading in and out of town stood two great boulders, one on each side.
The one on the left bore the words: Blackstone Town.
That was the town's name.
The one on the right bore the words: Sin City's lackeys and dogs are forbidden entry.
Those were the town's rules and requirements.
On a large tree nearby, three corpses hung from the trunk, swaying in the cold wind. They had clearly been dead for some time, and two of them still wore task Jade Tablets issued by Sin City at their waists.
Qin He had one in his Purple Gold Alms Bowl as well.
"Kid, where did you come from?" At the valley mouth, three gray-robed cultivators spotted Qin He and surrounded him, their gazes filled with suspicion and scrutiny.
They wore similar clothing, with the emblem of a black stone embroidered upon their chests.
They were people of Blackstone Town. Pedestrians entered and left the valley mouth in twos and threes without pause, yet these men had noticed Qin He at a glance.
Even Qin He found that surprising, and silently marveled that every profession had its masters.
"I fled from Sin City." Qin He had long prepared his answer. Since he had been singled out, there was no escaping an interrogation. At times like this, one often had to prove oneself.
If he could not prove himself, he would end up like the three hanging from the tree nearby.
They surely had not come here swaggering about without making any preparations either.
