Wu De's Past

Wu De, Lingyun Temple's chief disciple.

Frail and sickly in childhood, with both parents dead and no one to rely on, he could only survive by begging, plagued by grave illness.

When he was seven, hovering between life and death, he dreamed of a Daoist who called himself Daoist Lingyun.

The Daoist stroked his head, imparted the Spring Restoration Art to him, and guided him onto the path of cultivation.

Two years later, at the age of nine, Wu De found Lingyun Temple, the Daoist Sacred Land of the Eastern Land.

At fourteen, Wu De swept through Lingyun Temple's younger disciples with his heaven-bestowed talent. Wu Miaozhen, the temple master of Lingyun Temple, took him as a disciple and named him chief disciple.

But the tallest tree in the forest was always the first to be battered by the wind. Wu De had no foundation within Lingyun Temple, so he inevitably suffered some exclusion.

Thus, Wu De turned his gaze outward. He rarely remained at Lingyun Temple, instead traveling the world, where he found a kindred spirit in Daoist Yin, Yin Bailiang.

Later, Wu De met Fahai, who likewise could not stay within the Buddhist Sect. From then on, one Daoist and one Buddhist were inseparable.

Born into loneliness and poverty, Wu De was more mature than others his age. He had never revealed a single word to anyone about Daoist Lingyun imparting the Dao to him at the brink of death.

One important purpose of his travels was to search for traces of Daoist Lingyun.

The Divine Relic Golden Egg was something he discovered during that search, only for that bastard Great Immortal Green Ox to snatch it away.

As for why he had to search, Wu De could not explain it.

He simply felt that he had to.
