Apostle!
After Chen Wang unexpectedly broke through to Qi Refining Stage 4, his mana was several times more abundant than before. He had thought he would be able to cultivate at a rapid pace from then on, but in reality, his speed was only slightly faster than before.
Moreover, he could no longer enter that mysterious, ineffable state of enlightenment. Chen Wang did not dwell on it; after all, he had long accepted that his cultivation aptitude was poor.
"The potions from the Great Winter World unexpectedly help with cultivation. It seems that not only Third Order Genetic Potions—even some good first- and second-order ones must not be overlooked."
Chen Wang thought to himself.
Winter Wasteland World.
He appeared in his room. Looking at the clean, soft bed, a smile rose uncontrollably at the corner of his mouth. Although supplies were scarce in the Winter Wasteland World, he was wealthy, so his material comforts were exceedingly plentiful.
He opened the refrigerator, took out a bottle of whisky, poured himself a glass, and drained it in one gulp.
"It's still more comfortable living here."
Chen Wang stretched lazily, then pushed open the door and walked out.
He soon arrived at Bai Yao's residence.
At that moment, Bai Yao was curled up on the sofa reading, a stretch of fair, tender calf exposed, looking rather enticing.
When Chen Wang pushed the door open and entered, Bai Yao raised her head and said softly, "You're here."
He had been drawing talismans like mad during his time in the Cultivation World and had nearly forgotten about Bai Yao.
She had always lived at the Morning Star Research Institute and was highly skilled in researching Gene Serum. However, it was an enormous and complex system.
Bai Yao could not accomplish it alone.
Chen Wang exchanged a few simple words with her, his gaze devoid of any covetousness toward a beautiful woman.
Am I not beautiful to begin with, or is there something wrong with his preferences?
Bai Yao's expression was somewhat complicated.
Or perhaps this young man possessed extraordinary self-control and a temperament unlike ordinary people.
Over the past few days, she had calmed down, and the threads of certain matters had become clearer. She had originally vaguely suspected that something had gone wrong at the research institute. After pondering for a moment, she said softly, "If we can find Professor Bai, the person in charge of the Morning Star Research Institute, then you can send me back."
"Is he your father?" Chen Wang asked.
Bai Yao shook her head. "My mentor. After calming down and thinking it over these past few days, I'm certain he would never harm me. But I have to see him in person."
Chen Wang raised a brow, gave Bai Yao a deep look, and said, "Fine."
To him, no woman was as valuable as obtaining a Third Order Genetic Potion. That would be the best possible outcome.
"Have you sensed anything unusual recently?" Chen Wang asked.
He was not referring to anything else, but whether anyone from the Church had come looking.
"I haven't sensed anything. I haven't gone out lately—I've just been staying at home."
Chen Wang nodded. "It's better if you don't go out. I'll find a way to contact people from the research institute soon."
Bai Yao nodded. "All right."
Chen Wang then left, preparing to purchase some basic necessities.
A large pistol manufactured by Qiongqi Mining hung at his waist. His frame was upright, his brows carrying a heroic air. Unlike in the Cultivation World, where he concealed his aura, in the Winter Wasteland World, Chen Wang could freely be himself—indeed, even fiercer than his true nature. This was a place where people drew blades and guns at the slightest disagreement. The fiercer one was, the fewer troubles one faced.
There were shop-like places within Qiongqi Mining's Shelter as well.
However, this place was guarded by numerous forces and operated by an official organization.
Like a supermarket from his previous life, Chen Wang entered and bought beef and pork, along with some simple vegetables, then pushed his cart toward the exit.
The beautiful female clerks were tall and shapely, their chests full and rounded, professional smiles on their faces.
They had all undergone special training, and their bearing and physique were exceptional.
Even before the Great Winter, they would have been exceptionally outstanding beautiful girls.
The place Chen Wang had come to was a high-end establishment. After paying, he ignored the burning looks from those beautiful girls and carried his bags toward the exit.
Halfway there, Chen Wang's ears suddenly twitched. He frowned. "Could it really be such a coincidence?"
He set down the things in his hands and nimbly flipped to the side. After several rolls, he vanished into the street.
A Thug with bullets strung across his chest, carrying a Submachine Gun, pistol, and AK, cursed, "Fuck, this guy's reaction is so fast!"
But when they spotted the supplies on the ground, their breathing immediately quickened.
Two Thugs moved, quietly sneaking over. Bang! Bang!
With two gunshots, the tops of their skulls were blown off, minced flesh and brain matter splattering everywhere. The remaining two froze for a moment. "A Marksman!"
They exchanged a glance and hurriedly fled backward, weaving like snakes and moving at high speed in an attempt to shake off the Marksman's precise shots behind them.
Bang! Bang! Two more shots rang out. The tops of the two men's skulls were blown off, and they collapsed to the ground, their bodies pitching forward.
"Fuck, why has it been so chaotic these past two days?"
Chen Wang raised a brow.
There should not have been Thugs lying in wait to rob people in this area.
With his skills, he could have easily killed those Thugs. Yet out of habit, he had still sought cover first.
Clap, clap, clap! Applause rang out as a handsome young man wearing an earring stepped from the shadows.
"Wonderful! Wonderful! With your skills, yet acting so steadily, even if you were thrown into the wilderness, you would still be the finest hunter."
The handsome young man carried a long Sniper Rifle on his back, its design exaggerated. Yet the smile on his face was exceedingly elegant. Two pistols hung at his waist, giving him an unsettling air.
Unlike the Thugs covered in all manner of wild tattoos, this handsome young man wore elegant, well-tailored clothing that appeared to be made from excellent material.
Chen Wang raised a brow. "Who are you?"
The handsome young man smiled. "My name is Jiang Wei."
His next words made Chen Wang frown. "I am a believer of God!"
The Church... Chen Wang said coldly, "What do you want with me?"
The handsome young man named Jiang Wei sneered. "You're very composed, even calmer than I imagined. Unfortunately, your luck is bad—you ran into me."
Chen Wang raised a brow. He had thought this man had come looking for Bai Yao, but now it seemed to be merely a coincidence.
"I don't know you," Chen Wang said coldly.
The exceedingly handsome young man smiled. "You don't need to know me. Your heart tells me that you're wary, somewhat surprised, and also... who is Bai Yao?"
Mind reading! Chen Wang froze for a moment as a thought flashed through his mind, concealed and fleeting.
The handsome young man smiled. "That's right. Mind reading."
"I hadn't planned on killing anyone today, but I happened to run into you. You can only blame your own bad luck."
As soon as he finished speaking, he bent his legs slightly and charged at Chen Wang.
He was incredibly fast, reaching Chen Wang in just a few steps!
