Buying Magic Tools!
Every day, Chen Wang silently drew talismans, and at night he cultivated the Red Cloud Qi Refining Art.
The intense talisman-drawing not only failed to increase his failure rate, but instead made his heart calmer and his hand steadier.
Half a month later, Chen Wang sold out his Spirit Talismans and prepared to visit the Market to acquire a magic tool. Magic tools were expensive, but unlike talismans, the spells within them were permanently fixed.
Chen Wang arrived at the Market and browsed the various stalls. These past days, he had not made any purchases of talismans. When he came before a stall, he saw Old Man Zhou. Old Man Zhou still wore that indifferent expression, sitting there coldly with a wine gourd hanging from his waist, taking sip after sip. The more he drank, the brighter his eyes became.
Chen Wang stepped forward with a smile to exchange greetings. The old man's high-grade beginner talisman had already been sold.
The other party had made it clear from the start that he would not reserve it; first come, first served.
What Chen Wang urgently wanted now was a magic tool, so he did not bring the matter up again.
Chen Wang wandered among the Market stalls before finally stopping in front of one.
The stall owner was a woman with a voluptuous figure, curving out in front and behind. Even sitting there, her heavy breasts placed immense pressure on her clothes.
Displayed on the stall were an ancient-looking longsword and a black iron ring. There were quite a few stalls in the Market selling magic tools, but most were crudely made and gave off faint spiritual fluctuations.
Chen Wang was currently a mid-stage Qi Refining cultivator, so naturally he had no use for such inferior magic tools.
More importantly, magic tools of the same grade cost far more than talismans. Chen Wang noticed a wooden plaque beside the ancient sword that read: Purple Cloud Sword, mid-grade beginner attack magic tool, thirty Spirit Stones.
The wooden plaque beside the black iron ring read: Earth Spirit Ring, mid-grade beginner defensive magic tool, thirty Spirit Stones.
"Mid-grade beginner magic tools."
Chen Wang raised his brows.
These days, after selling out of Wind Riding Talismans, he would sometimes wander around the Market, but he had never seen mid-grade beginner magic tools. Most were low-grade beginner items or even worse.
Depending on the type of spell, mid-grade beginner talismans cost eight to nine Spirit Stones, while magic tools were three times as expensive. But upon consideration, it made sense; talismans were consumables after all.
Chen Wang had neither too many nor too few Spirit Stones—exactly thirty-one. He could only acquire one. One was a sword-type attack magic tool, while the other was a defensive magic tool.
Suddenly, Chen Wang had made his choice.
Given his financial circumstances, simply being able to buy a magic tool would have been good enough. Yet what lay before him were high-quality magic tools circulating on the market. At that moment, a dark-faced man approached, his gaze falling on the Purple Cloud Sword. Seeing its ancient form and the powerful spiritual charm it contained, he said in a deep voice, "Can this Purple Cloud Sword be any cheaper?"
The voluptuous woman had rather ordinary features, but her skin was snowy white and her eyes bright and limpid. Hearing this, she shook her head. "One price. No discounts."
The dark-faced man said, "High-grade mid-grade beginner talismans only cost nine Spirit Stones. Your magic tool is a bit too expensive. Lower the price some more, and I'll buy it."
The voluptuous woman shot him a glare and said irritably, "Can talismans compare to magic tools? Especially magic tools of this quality. Look around—where else in the Market can you find this kind of quality?"
The man said with a smile, "Fellow Daoist, you have quite the temper. Let's make friends. I'll buy it for twenty-eight Spirit Stones. How about it?"
The woman said impatiently, "If you're not buying, then forget it. One price, no bargaining."
The dark-faced man said anxiously, "What kind of business doesn't allow bargaining?"
After the two tussled back and forth for a while, the voluptuous woman finally glared with her hands on her hips and urged the man to leave.
The man rubbed his nose, feeling that he had made a fool of himself. "What a temper. She hardly looks like a stall owner!"
His eyes drifted unconsciously over the woman's body.
Noticing his gaze, the voluptuous, curvy woman immediately arched her willow brows. "Where are you looking?"
The dark-faced man smiled. "Naturally, I'm looking at what's pleasing to the eye."
The woman spat and snapped, "I'm here to sell goods, not myself! Wipe your eyes clean!"
Her tone was fierce and aggressive, like an enraged tigress.
The dark-faced man could only chuckle awkwardly.
Still fuming, the woman turned to Chen Wang, and her tone immediately softened somewhat. "Little brother, what would you like to buy?"
Seeing how fiery-tempered she was, Chen Wang felt his teeth ache. But buying things without haggling went against his principles in life, so he braced himself and said, "I think the Earth Spirit Ring is quite good. Can it be cheaper?"
The dark-faced man thought, You kid really have no sense of the situation. This woman has such a fiery temper, and you still try this!
He watched Chen Wang with a smile and did not hurry to leave.
He had just been scolded from head to toe. Now that Chen Wang had said exactly the same thing as him, he immediately felt rather delighted at Chen Wang's misfortune.
The voluptuous woman nodded. "If you've taken a liking to it, take it for twenty-eight Spirit Stones."
The dark-faced man: "..."
Chen Wang raised his brows. Judging by her attitude just now, she had clearly been unwilling to lower the price. Yet she had unexpectedly knocked off two Spirit Stones the moment she opened her mouth. The dark-faced man hurriedly cried out, "Hey, hey, hey! I can't stand this anymore! Why did you snap at me when I haggled, but he only casually said a word and you immediately gave him two Spirit Stones off?"
The woman arched her willow brows and glared at him, then smiled. "Because I feel like it."
The dark-faced man: "..."
In the end, Chen Wang successfully bought the dark iron ring, the Earth Spirit Ring, for twenty-eight Spirit Stones.
The young woman said with a smile, "After you activate this spirit ring with spiritual power, it can form a protective barrier. Depending on the strength of your spiritual power, the range covered by the barrier will differ."
She patiently taught Chen Wang how to use it, her tone gentle.
Just moments ago, she had been like an enraged tigress. After Chen Wang paid, he still had three Spirit Stones left. He had originally intended to buy it for thirty Spirit Stones, but the dark-faced man's ridiculous antics seemed to have provoked the young female vendor's temper, causing her to lower the price outright.
There are still more good people than bad people these days, Chen Wang thought.
The graceful female vendor said softly, "Little brother, are you still buying the Purple Cloud Sword? If you buy it, I'll give you a discount too."
Chen Wang shook his head and smiled. "I'm out of money. Another day."
The female vendor did not mind and merely smiled faintly.
The dark-faced man beside them could not help himself again. "Fine, you sold him the Earth Spirit Ring cheaply, but the Purple Cloud Sword can be discounted too? Lower the price a little, and I'll buy it."
Whether he truly liked the Purple Cloud Sword or was simply acting on a fit of temper was unclear.
The young female vendor glanced at him and said coldly, "Thirty-two Spirit Stones. That's the price if you want to buy it."
The dark-faced man: "..."
So she gave him a discount and made it up from me!
The dark-faced man shot Chen Wang a vicious glare, then glared at the female vendor before leaving in a stream of curses.
