Adults don't make choices—they take it all! Gao Yanan nodded after hearing this. She identified the serial numbers on the rack and took down two guns.
"Then let's try these two."
One was a shotgun, the other a handgun: the ks-23 Shotgun and the Qiongqi NG-14.
Many firearms in the Winter Wasteland World bore almost the same names as the guns Chen Wang had learned about in his previous life, though their power differed. They were specially modified weapons.
"The ks-23 Shotgun is forty-eight thousand. Ammunition is extra."
"The Qiongqi NG-14 is sixty-five thousand. Ammunition is extra."
After speaking, Gao Yanan looked at Chen Wang.
Chen Wang picked up both guns and tested their feel. The shotgun looked almost exactly like the model he had known in his previous life. As for the pistol produced by Qiongqi Mining, it had once gone by another name: the Desert Eagle.
Both guns had their own advantages, making them difficult to choose between. Yet Chen Wang merely said flatly, "I'll take them both."
Only children made choices. Adults didn't make choices.
They took it all!
Gao Yanan slightly raised her head to look at Chen Wang, surprise in her eyes.
These two guns were expensive. She had not intended to recommend them to him, merely mentioned them casually. Yet he had actually bought them outright—both at once!?
Was he really this obscenely rich? This reaction from the cold, haughty woman struck exactly at Chen Wang's sweet spot. Wasn't it just money? Small matter.
Chen Wang bought both modified firearms in one go.
Even Gao Yanan was somewhat astonished by his deep-pocketed manner.
In the Winter Wasteland, someone who could pay a hundred thousand without even blinking—Chen Wang's customer tier needs to be raised again.
Gao Yanan's eyes lit up. This was a major client! After buying ammunition, Chen Wang prepared to leave the building.
Gao Yanan gazed at Chen Wang's sharply defined face. "In such a hurry to find that woman?"
Chen Wang laughed soundlessly and blinked. "I lied to her earlier."
Gao Yanan's expression eased slightly. She said softly, "Shall I keep you company tonight?"
It was bold and straightforward, as though she had merely mentioned some insignificant little matter.
Chen Wang said, "Another day. I need to get familiar with these guns first today."
Gao Yanan nodded. "All right."
She could not help feeling slightly disappointed.
Chen Wang took the ammunition and left, returning to his residence.
The pistol made by Qiongqi Mining was immensely powerful. Its appearance was exactly the same as the Desert Eagle from his previous life, and its recoil was just as great. The shotgun was also excellent, and actually easy to carry. It might not be easy to conceal while wearing a Camouflage Uniform, but in the Cultivation World, a loose robe could hide it quite well.
Although Chen Wang was unwilling to reveal this world's firearms lightly, it was still necessary to keep them for self-defense.
Purely in terms of offensive power, many guns from the wasteland world were no less formidable.
It wasn't that I can't afford magical artifacts. Guns just offer better value for money.
Chen Wang grumbled inwardly.
The Church had attacked Apocalypse Armaments' Shelter, while Qiongqi Mining remained under martial law.
Chen Wang did not seek out the young woman who claimed to be from the Morning Star Research Institute. He had begun to doubt her identity.
One month later, Chen Wang arrived at the Red Cloud Sect Market with the Spirit Stones he had accumulated during this period tucked against his chest.
After selling the Wind Riding Talismans in his possession, his Spirit Stones had surpassed ten for the first time. He decided to exchange them at the Market for a talisman or magical artifact for self-defense. Of course, magical artifacts were basically beyond his means, but he could try for an elementary mid-grade talisman.
The Market was filled with stalls of every shape and kind, large and small.
The talismans were priced at dozens of Spirit Stones apiece, leaving Chen Wang, who had only just gained a modest fortune, able to do nothing but sigh at the sight of them.
He came before a stall where several elementary Spirit Talismans were laid out before the vendor. There were mid-grade and low-grade ones, and even a high-grade Spirit Talisman. The vendor was the bald old man Chen Wang had seen before, with a wine gourd tied at his waist. Looking closely, one could see that the old man had a large bulbous red nose. He was clearly a drunkard.
After looking them over, Chen Wang picked out the Golden Bell Talisman on the ground. It was an elementary mid-grade Spirit Talisman, and the spiritual energy fluctuations it gave off were more than ten times stronger than those of the Wind Riding Talisman in his hand. Once activated, faint golden light would form the shape of a golden bell, and its defensive power was extremely strong.
"Can this Golden Bell Talisman be any cheaper?"
In the Winter Wasteland World, Chen Wang had been lavish with money, never haggling when buying things and simply taking everything in a bundle. But in the Red Cloud Sect Market, he had to count every penny, and he often bargained with people.
The bald old man had previously berated someone who tried to haggle while buying goods, which had left a deep impression on Chen Wang. Yet the old man's Spirit Talismans had the strongest fluctuations and the best value, so Chen Wang could only steel himself and approach his stall.
The bald old man looked up and gave Chen Wang an indifferent glance. "One price. No bargaining."
Chen Wang smiled. "The Golden Bell Talisman can't protect against attacks from beneath one's feet. That's a flaw. If you make it cheaper, I'll take it."
The old man looked up at Chen Wang, apparently not expecting anyone to notice that issue. He curled his lips. "You know how to draw talismans too?"
Chen Wang nodded. "I certainly can't compare to a senior like you, but I know a little. I can only draw low-grade talismans."
A rare smile appeared on the bald old man's face. "A Talisman Master coming to support another Talisman Master's business. Interesting."
But then his face darkened again, and he said in a deep voice, "You brat have eyes but fail to see Mount Tai. This Golden Bell Talisman can protect beneath the feet as well; it's just slightly weaker there."
Chen Wang smiled in realization. "So that's how it is. It still takes an experienced senior."
The bald old man grinned. "Your mouth is really sweet, brat, but I can't lower the price."
Chen Wang considered it, then said softly, "What if I buy a few more?"
The bald old man raised an eyebrow. "At your age, it's already rare to keep your belt fastened and save up money. Fine. For the sake of a fellow Talisman Master, if you buy more, I'll give you a discount."
Chen Wang smiled. "Thank you, Senior."
He chose one Golden Bell Talisman, then picked out an elementary low-grade Spring Return Talisman. The Spring Return Talisman was a special kind of talisman.
After activating a Spring Return Talisman, it could restore injuries and replenish one's life force.
However, since it was not a medicinal pill, its aftereffects were extremely severe.
It drew upon the user's own vitality. After using a Spring Return Talisman, one would feel physically weak for several days. Cultivators were not all that much stronger than ordinary people, and this kind of talisman placed a considerable burden on the body.
But for Chen Wang, a special second-tier class, the Spring Return Talisman was acceptable.
Originally, a single elementary mid-grade Golden Bell Talisman would cost eight Spirit Stones. The bald old man was also famous for his stubborn temper and refusal to haggle.
Yet today, he made an exception for Chen Wang. Eight Low-Grade Spirit Stones bought one Golden Bell Talisman and one Spring Return Talisman.
In other words, after this little maneuver, Chen Wang had gotten a Spring Return Talisman for free.
That left him with only one Spirit Stone on him, but two additional talismans.
Chen Wang beamed, feeling exceptionally pleased. Although I don't have enough Spirit Stones right now, this is only the beginning. There is still a long road ahead. If I work harder at drawing talismans, life will get better.
With hopes for the future tucked in his heart, Chen Wang prepared to return to his residence.
