In this empty, desolate place, Dragon Mountain Temple quietly appeared before him.
Suddenly, the sound of sutra chanting came from within the temple. Chen Wang could not help but feel a chill crawl down his spine, and a sense of foreboding spread through his heart.
He carefully inspected the surroundings, yet found nothing unusual.
He looked toward the Mirror Spirit, who said in terror, "I can't see anything."
Chen Wang frowned. Soon, his vision swam.
Chen Wang saw that he was still within the great hall, except it was now filled with monks.
Clad in gray monk's robes and holding wooden fish, they continuously struck them as they chanted sutras.
The dozen or so old monks at the front looked extremely aged, their blood and vitality seemingly already depleted.
The one at the head wore a kasaya and held a golden alms bowl. Though he was merely a short, shriveled old man, he gave off the impression of an insurmountable mountain.
At that moment, Chen Wang suddenly looked up and found the old monk's gaze fixed upon him, sharp as blades.
The old monk's voice boomed like a great bell as he said in a deep voice, "Ji Jue, you abandoned the world for a woman. Do you know your error?"
Chen Wang was instantly startled. It seemed he was hidden away in some corner of this body.
Chen Wang felt the owner of this body speak. "They wanted to kill me. I did not care about that. But to treat an innocent woman so cruelly is no different from the ways of demons. What was wrong with me killing them?"
The old monk's voice boomed like thunder. He abruptly planted the monk's staff in his hand upon the ground, and in an instant, a powerful force blasted toward them.
