Boom!
A deafening explosion echoed through the lodge. Every window began to shake violently, and the glass in several of the closest ones shattered outright.
All the tour group members were jolted awake and ran out of the lodge. Seeing the flames and thick smoke rising from the garage, shock filled their eyes.
"Put out the fire!"
Xu Yue leaped straight down from a third-floor window, shouting as he grabbed a fire extinguisher and rushed toward the garage.
His reminder snapped the others out of their shock. They hurriedly gathered all kinds of firefighting equipment and followed after him.
Though the blaze looked fierce, there were few flammable materials in the garage. Once the initial gasoline-like explosion had passed, the fire was quickly brought under control.
"Where's Ayako? Has anyone seen Ayako?"
After spraying out the last flickering flames with his extinguisher, Kento Toba looked anxious.
"Ayako Ohki? Wasn't she with you?"
"No."
"Is anyone else missing?"
Kento Toba's words threw the scene into disorder as everyone began checking who was present.
At that moment, Xu Yue spoke up at just the right time.
"No. When I came down, everyone except Ayako Ohki was already here. Ayako Ohki was the only one missing. If nothing unexpected happened, we may be able to find her... corpse here."
Xu Yue's words sent a chill through everyone's hearts.
While most of them were distracted by what Xu Yue had said, Toshiro Fujiike, the middle-aged man who had never thought much of Kogoro Mouri, stealthily opened the rear door of the burned-out vehicle, seemingly intending to search inside for something.
However, as soon as he opened the door, he saw a charred corpse within and screamed in fright.
Sure enough, everything confirmed Xu Yue's words. Ayako Ohki's body had been found here...
"Ayako!"
Seeing
