Leon looked at the road leading north out of the city, his expression somewhat grim.
After scavenging all the way here, he was now well equipped, loaded down with ammunition and firearms. He had even captured a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.
After fighting his way through, Leon had also realized that the infection in Mocalan Town had only just broken out. Humans still held an overwhelming numerical advantage. At the current rate of infection, it would be at least a few hours before the second wave of directly infected residents turned into zombies.
The next few hours were the final golden window. They had to find a way to clear the road ahead.
Unfortunately, with gangs entrenched throughout the town, the place had always been steeped in violence and brutality. Order had completely collapsed from the very start of the outbreak.
Those lawless desperadoes, well supplied with firepower, had no fear of zombies at all.
For a time, they had even managed to reduce the number of infected.
Unfortunately, the chaos and panic that followed led to conflicts and shootouts, which only accelerated the spread of the infection.
Crushed by fear and driven by their own brutality, those people were now attacking anything, human or zombie. They were practically more destructive than the zombies themselves. Quite a few had even snorted cocaine, making the situation even more chaotic.
"Damn it, they're impossible to deal with. Otherwise, if the gangs in the city could put aside their conflicts for now, this town might even be enough to establish a defensive base."
Leon climbed into a truck, raised his hand and killed the driver who had turned into a zombie, then began figuring out how to gradually clear the road.
