Chapter 1822: First Top-Up
With the Reincarnators watching, Regan, the traitor, could only fret in secret.
Mouse had already gone back. With Tank and Dozer, that made three people. He had no way to create enough of a gap to ambush and deal with those three, so even if he was the first to return, he probably could not do anything.
In the original plot, he had escaped early and returned quite a while ahead of them, which was how he had managed to ambush Tank and Dozer before preventing the others from returning. This time, though, he did not have the conditions to do that!
The only thing he could think of was persuading everyone not to pull the plug and to rescue Morpheus when the time came.
As the hackers vanished one by one before their eyes through the ringing telephone, the Reincarnators felt a delighted sense of having uncovered the truth.
Sure enough, it really was just as they had said!
This mission was quite special. The truth had been hidden so deeply.
If our methods had not been good enough, who knew how long it would have taken us to realize we were being played.
"I knew it. I'm clearly a Veteran Intruder-level powerhouse, yet I only have the physical abilities of an ordinary person."
Howard muttered to himself, having found an explanation at last. A look of sudden realization appeared on his face.
Several people beside him hurriedly comforted him.
"That's exactly it. How could our deputy commander possibly start on the same line as us?"
"Right, exactly."
"Once we get out, Deputy Commander will definitely improve rapidly and become one of those top hackers they talked about. Maybe he'll even be like that strongest guy."
