"What's wrong with Clark?"
At the small clinic in town, Martha Kent asked the town's only pediatrician with a worried look on her face.
Clark was about the same size as an ordinary one-month-old baby, but he looked completely listless, and his body was covered in red rashes.
"Don't worry. It's eczema caused by allergies. A lot of babies get it. His case is a little serious, but it'll improve as he grows older. Just make sure his skin is neither too damp nor too dry, and keep it clean."
The elderly doctor in glasses gave Clark a quick examination and reached his conclusion with ease.
"It would be best to go to the hospital in the city for an allergen test, but he won't be suited for that until he's six months old. Are you breastfeeding him?..."
The doctor casually exchanged questions and answers with The Kents, clearly not thinking it was anything serious.
But when The Kents looked at each other, they could both see the worry in the other's eyes.
There was more than one strange thing about little Clark. Yet because of his special circumstances, they had no way to describe them. They were also hesitant about any future blood tests.
So for now, they could only follow the doctor's advice, buy some moisturizing cream, and head home to see how things went.
"What an adorable little fellow. I think I've seen symptoms like that before."
Just as The Kents were about to get into their car, a voice from nearby caught their attention.
When they turned around, they found an Asian face standing before them, a rare sight in these parts.
