The story began with Kurono, an ordinary high school student who was somewhat willful and selfish, yet still retained kindness and courage deep down. While waiting for the subway one day, he ran into his childhood friend, Kato Masaru.

Influenced by Kato Masaru, he jumped down from the platform with him and entered the tracks to save a drunk who had fallen onto them. Then the two of them were both struck dead by the train.

Yet after dying, they were transported into a sealed apartment room. The apartment offered a view of the outside, even of Tokyo Tower, but it was impossible to leave. They could not even touch the walls or windows, as though they had been isolated by space itself.
