Xu Yue and Klein survived the True Creator’s interrupted descent, then went their separate ways as Klein sailed to hunt pirates and seek Mermaids. Xu Yue joined Klein at sea, acquired a pirate ship, and helped assemble the first framework for Silver City’s rescue.

• Xu Yue and Klein disrupted the True Creator’s descent in Backlund, and Klein escaped the pursuit while Xu Yue revealed he had substituted his own hair for Klein’s and took Klein’s money as repayment.
• Klein left Backlund for the sea, while Xu Yue killed Qunass Korg and attended a Hermits of Fate gathering where he revealed that he had disrupted Amon’s plans.
• Klein arrived at Port Damir, attacked Sea Eagle Logan, and then subdued Dunnitz the Blazing, whom Xu Yue bought free for 3,500 gold pounds in exchange for work.
• Klein and Xu Yue confronted White Shark Hamilton, extracted his codebook, and received a letter from Mr. Azik warning about the Black Emperor card and the danger of recovering his memories.
• Klein and Xu Yue defeated the Red Skull Pirates, sold the captives and supplies to Airlan, and Xu Yue kept the ship with Danez as its boatswain.
• Klein stayed aboard the Red Skull at Port Banshee despite Medici’s warning about the port’s dangers, while Emlyn joined the Tarot Club above the Gray Fog.

Xu Yue and Klein helped rescue Silver City, defeated the Dark Angel Vile Spirit, and brought the city’s people out of the Gods’ Battlefield to settle near Bayom. After confronting threats from the Rose School and the Desire Mother Tree, Klein traveled with Xu Yue to Backlund to pursue his plans.

• Xu Yue and Klein hunted pirates with Danez, learned that Admiral Blood was seeking the Key of the Reaper, and negotiated with Edwina Edwards to join an expedition to the Giant King's Court.
• Klein took the Sea God Scepter and accepted the Sea God’s former believers, while the Storm Church’s purge forced Vice Admiral Iceberg to delay meeting them.
• Cidalia joined The Tarot Club, and Xu Yue organized a plan with the members to rescue Silver City through the Gods' Battlefield.
• Xu Yue helped Silver City’s Beyonders advance, defeated Light Slayer Milgrom, and confronted the Dark Angel Vile Spirit in the Giant King's Court.
• Xu Yue Grazed the Dark Angel Vile Spirit as Amon seized the first Blasphemy Slate, and the group escorted Silver City’s people out of the Gods' Battlefield aboard five ships.

• Klein settled into Backlund, hired Walter, and began investigating the Great Smog Incident while gathering the Tarot Club above the Gray Fog.
• Xu Yue told the Tarot Club that George III planned to become the Black Emperor, and Bernadette learned that Huang Tao’s past and corruption made seeking his mausoleum dangerous.
• Klein encountered Amon in Backlund and, with Pallez’s help, destroyed an avatar and absorbed many others, though Amon escaped with Pallez’s Sequence 1 characteristic.
• The Tarot Club and conservative nobles began organizing against George III, drawing support from the Sanguine, Silver City, Admiral Star, and other allies.
• Louis Wayne tried to kidnap Audrey and target Count Hall, but Xu Yue subdued him and his Rose Bishop subordinates, while the Church of the Evernight promised to protect Count Hall.
• Duke Negan gathered the anti-George forces, and Xu Yue showed the nobles evidence that the Royal Family intended to eliminate them as they debated whether to wait or strike.
• Klein returned from Hidden Town and discussed his advancement ritual with Xu Yue, then received Danez’s letter asking for help after Vice Admiral Iceberg disappeared.

Xu Yue and Klein helped stop George III’s apotheosis, leaving Loen in turmoil and Audrey as its Chief Executive. Xu Yue then freed Roselle from the corruption on Primal Island, and Roselle joined the Tarot Club as the Emperor while the war with the Forsak Empire continued.

• Xu Yue led Klein into Roselle’s Travelogue, where they joined the adventurers, killed the Frost Dragon, and preserved the imagined inhabitants’ souls before Klein advanced to Sequence 4.
• As war threatened Loen, Xu Yue helped Audrey prepare to lead the country, while Klein and Amon joined the royal family’s plans around George III’s ritual.
• The royal family and nobles fought across Backlund, and Xu Yue helped Amon overcome the God of Steam and Machinery’s interference so Amon could seize the Error pathway’s godhood.
• Amon refused to stabilize Loen for William Augustus I, and allied forces destroyed most of the royal family as the country fell into disorder.
• Audrey became Loen’s first Chief Executive, while Klein left to serve the Goddess and Xu Yue killed Hewen Lambis when he tried to manipulate Audrey.
