The viciously shaped mace came crashing down onto the long, thin claw amid a howling wind, producing a muffled, bizarre "puff." Yu Sheng watched as the claw shattered like viscous mud, hissing smoke, and felt that the impact was less like striking flesh and blood than rotten cotton and wood.
In the blink of an eye, the twisted, lanky monster standing at the door began to swell violently. It let out a shrill screech as its entire body expanded and proliferated in every direction, looking thoroughly enraged.
But Yu Sheng had prepared for this.
"Eileen! Move!"
Endless black threads spread from behind Yu Sheng in the blink of an eye. They grew and multiplied wildly through the air as if endowed with lives of their own, then silently pierced into the lanky monster's flesh. As the monster grew, the sinister spider silk grew as well. Within a few breaths, the two became tightly entangled and reached a strange balance. The silk stretched taut, producing unsettling clattering sounds, while Wolf Grandma was forced to stop moving.
Eileen stood inside the little wooden house, raising both hands high. Her small body seemed cast into the ground as she withstood the tremendous force.
Just as Yu Sheng had predicted, bodies made from clay and lotus root could let Eileen withstand the backlash of "hunger" for a short time. A frame made of rebar would allow her to unleash even more astonishing strength—the changes in the raw materials produced an exponential enhancement after they were transformed into a doll.
Yu Sheng charged out of the little wooden house.
He carried the vicious club. His figure was as nimble as the wind, and one stomp shattered the ground into a deep, cracked crater. He lunged at the immobilized "Wolf Grandma," swinging the mace hard into
