This was a strange experience Yu Sheng had never had before—traveling with a pack of wolves through the city's distorted reflections.
Buildings that seemed real yet unreal raced backward through his field of vision. In this shadow world, Boundary City seemed to have turned into countless fragmented, constantly drifting "chunks." Buildings and streets were piled and tangled together in complete disorder. Neighborhoods separated by vast distances might connect at the next intersection, while houses that had originally stood side by side could be split into different "chunks." The agile wolves darted through the city's inverted, chaotic structure, following invisible "roads" and leaping across one intersection after another.
A red shadow approached from the edge of his vision. Little Red Riding Hood wore a cheerful smile as she turned toward Yu Sheng. "Isn't this amazing?"
"It's amazing." Yu Sheng sighed from the bottom of his heart. "Is this what you usually see when you 'go out'?"
"I only use it when I'm traveling a long distance." Little Red Riding Hood sounded delighted. "Sometimes I also have the wolves take other members of the organization out on missions—you're the first 'outsider' to be invited."
"Then I'm honored. Speaking of which, do you usually have to pick up and drop off the others too?"
Little Red Riding Hood waved her hand. "What can you do? No one at the orphanage knows how to drive, and taking a taxi is expensive."
Yu Sheng glanced at the girl riding a wolf beside him, pressed his lips together, and suddenly shouted, "You'll be able to take your driver's test next month."
Little Red Riding Hood froze.
Then she suddenly laughed and shouted just as loudly, "That's right! I'll be able to take my driver's test next month!!"
The shadows receded, and figures condensed within them.
